We are currently seeking a dedicated Cook to support our kitchen operations in Jacksonville, AR, helping us maintain the highest standards of food quality and nutrition for the children we serve.
Position Summary:
As a Cook, you will be an essential member of our kitchen team, directly involved in preparing delicious and nutritious meals that comply with the CACFP guidelines. You will work under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager to execute meal plans, prepare food, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen. This role is perfect for someone passionate about cooking and making a positive impact on children's health and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of daily meals that meet the CACFP nutritional standards.
Maintain high levels of kitchen hygiene and cleanliness in line with health and safety regulations.
Support the Kitchen Manager in inventory management, including receiving deliveries and organizing supplies.
Ensure proper food storage to maintain freshness and prevent waste.
Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop efficient cooking processes and techniques.
Follow recipes and meal plans accurately, adjusting for the number of servings as needed.
Monitor kitchen equipment and appliances, reporting any malfunctions or safety concerns.
Engage positively with children and staff, contributing to a nurturing and supportive environment.
Requirements:
Proven cooking experience, including experience as a restaurant cook or prep cook.
Familiarity with CACFP meal patterns and nutritional guidelines is preferred.
Ability to pass a child care background check.
Strong understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training will be considered an asset.
