JOB
Firefighters provide the community with fire protection, natural and man-made disaster response, hazardous material mitigation, response to vehicle accidents, and some medical related issues. They are also responsible for ensuring the operation and maintenance of vehicles, apparatus, stations, property, and equipment under general supervision.This position reports directly to company officers and will work alongside other firefighters and fire engineers. Firefighters may be assigned as an acting Engineer when needed. Applicants who are Firefighter I and II certified should include copies of their certification(s)s with their application. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Responds to incidents with a company and performs related tasks as assigned in accordance with department procedures, rules, and policies. Performs daily inspections of tools and equipment ensuring they are clean and in operational condition in accordance with department procedures. Performs tasks as assigned to them at emergency and non-emergency incidents.Maintains fire stations and property, department vehicles and apparatus, and equipment daily and as required. Performs and participates in pre-incident surveys, fire prevention programs, and community events as assigned. Will be assigned the duties of Engineer as dictated by staffing.Completes all required reports and forms related to their responsibilities.Ensures that all department property is safeguarded from waste and abuse.Follow all appropriate orders from superiors in a timely fashion, remaining respectful at all times.Performs all other related duties or tasks as assigned.Subject to callback
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Will have to drive and operate fire vehicles in a safe manner under adverse conditions.Don and doff personal protective gear, including SCBA, in a timely manner.Pull, lift, and carry heavy objects such as fire hose, ladders, equipment, or victims in the event of a rescue.Will have to climb stairs or ladders and work at high elevations with tools and equipment.Will work in hazardous environments, including heat and smoke, in a safe and efficient manner.Work in any weather conditions as required.
