This is routine field work involved with the enforcement of some various laws and ordinances established by the City Council of the City of Millbrook, Alabama relating to the care, control, and regulation of dogs and various other animals. The Animal Control Officer exercises considerable independent judgment in the daily operation with the supervision of the Police Chief or other assigned supervisor.
Applicants must have knowledge of humane methods for animal collection, care and disposal, knowledge of various laws and ordinances of the State of Alabama and the City of Millbrook concerning animal control, and knowledge of the geography of the City of Millbrook and Millbrook's Police Jurisdiction. This person should be able to remember names, faces, and details of incidents and be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. This person must be able to deal courteously, but firmly with the public. This person must be able to analyze situations and to adopt quick, effective and reasonable courses of action, with due regard to surrounding hazards and circumstances.
Qualifications are that the applicant be a high school graduate or equivalent. Applicant must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
