Job Summary:
This is technical and supervisory work in operating and maintaining an advanced wastewater reclamation facility. Oversees the daily maintenance, operation, and process control of the Wastewater Reclamation Facility (WWRF). Manages and supervises the day-to-day operations of maintenance, compliance, and personnel in collaboration with the Chief Plant Operator.

Responsibilities:

• Performs administrative work for the department
• Ensures all policies and procedures comply with established regulations
• Reviews proposed modifications to the wastewater treatment facility, acts as a liaison between the City and the Department of Environmental Protection, Consultants, and evaluates equipment performance
• Responsible for ordering supplies consumed in the operation of the treatment facility
• Keeps records and prepares clear and concise reports on plant operation
• Provides Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) to the Department of Environmental Protection
• Coordinates with contractors and engineers for accuracy in the work being performed
• Approves domestic wastewater treatment permit for collection system expansion
• Oversees emergency activations and activities of the WWRF

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Environmental Science, Business, or a closely related field and a minimum of five (5) years directly related experience in Engineering, Operational or Utilities Management required or an equivalent combination of education and experience*
• *If a candidate cannot be identified with both a Bachelor’s Degree and related experience, those with a requisite combination of suitable education and experience may be considered with a commitment to complete a Bachelor's degree in an agreed upon timeframe.
• Five (5) years of supervisory responsibility in plant operation and maintenance preferred
• Possession of a current State of Florida Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license or an out-of-state equivalent license, preferred
• Municipal experience preferred
• Valid Driver's License
