The City of Fort Worth is Hiring a Traffic Systems Technician II Near Fort Worth, TX

Pay Range: $23.72 - $29.65/hr.

The successful candidate will be required to work outside, nights and weekends for special events or emergency call-back, and at heights of at least 30’.

A Traffic Systems Technician II job is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Department in the Traffic Management Division.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED with additional specialized training in electronic systems, street light systems, traffic signal systems and/or electrical wiring.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible electronic and/or electrical experience in the repair and maintenance of street light, traffic signal, or electrical systems.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Possession of a Class B CDL Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire.
  • Must pass physical and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Electronics or a related field.
  • Specialized licenses or certifications such as Apprentice or Journeyman Electrical Licenses, Bucket Truck, Derrick Digger, IMSA or other standard industry certifications.
  • Microsoft Office experience.

The Traffic Systems Technician II job responsibilities include:

  • Planning, designing, installing, repairing, and maintaining the pavement markings, signs, and street lights for the City of Fort Worth.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic control systems, specifically street lights.
  • Operate various specialized tools and equipment related to traffic control system maintenance. 

Working Conditions:
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises. 

Physical Demands:

Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
