Pay Range: $70,012 - $86,967 annual compensation

A Sr. Accountant job is available with The City of Fort Worth Water Department in our Customer Care Division. The Water Department is a fast paced and rewarding department that is responsible for providing safe and reliable water to its citizens. This is an advanced level position and will have a high level of responsibility within the department. The Sr. Accountant will be responsible for performing general accounting and related duties efficiently and accurately. Chart of accounts, ledgers, bank statements and other reports are used to authenticate financial activity on behalf of the City. The position will ensure proper accounting procedures and controls, verify and record daily, monthly and annual journal entries and prepare timely financial reports.

 Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university with major in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration
• Four (4) years of experience in general ledger, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, audit.
• Valid Driver's License.

 Preferred Qualifications:

• Government accounting standards, fund accounting and previous municipal government experience
• Certifications as a Public Accountant, Public Finance Officer or Certified Government Finance Officer
• Experience creating/modifying complex queries and previous working knowledge of AS400
• Ability to interpret accounting data; and to communicate effectively

The Sr. Accountant position job responsibilities includes:

• Prepares financial reports; and process general ledger journal entries
• Performs subsystem reconciliations and research balance variances
• Reviews accounting records, such as expenditures, funds, and appropriations and ensure agency assets are accounted for
• Reconcile revenue collection reports from various payment channels to ensure proper deposit of funds
• Prepare month/year - end internal/external financial audit details
• Support divisions, departments with analysis, budgetary data and research. Perform account analysis
