Pay Range: $20.44 - $25.55/hr

A Skilled Trades Technician I – Facility Maintenance position is available with the City of Fort Worth, in the Public Events Department at the Will Rogers Memorial Center. The department currently has two openings for this role. By working at the Will Rogers Memorial Center, you will be doing work that matters! The Skilled Trades Technician I – Facilities Maintenance play a very important role in making sure all facilities are operating correctly and run smoothly. Will Rogers hosts a diverse calendar of events which includes World Championship Horse and Livestock Shows, Consumer and Trade Shows, Cultural, Educational, and Performing Arts Shows and much more.

This position will be responsible for performing skilled maintenance, installation, and fabrication tasks in the assigned trades (General Maintenance, Welder, Roofer, Painter, Plumbing and Commercial Door Repair) area of responsibility. They should understand how to follow a preventive maintenance schedule for equipment and provide technical support to the assigned supervisory personnel. Public Events Department employees are subject to reassignment based on work load and/or the needs of the City or the Department. This reassignment may involve relocation to the Fort Worth Convention Center or another City facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required, work experience can supplement this requirement
  • Valid Texas Driver License
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in general maintenance
  • Must pass drug screen and physical screening
  • Applicants for this position must be willing to work a flexible schedule that coincides with the events held at the facilities.
  • Must also be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and have scheduled days off on days other than Saturday and Sunday

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specific experience in plumbing
  • Specific experience in commercial door repair
  • Experience in carpentry
  • Experience in painting
  • Forklift certification / experience

The Skilled Trades Tech I- Facility Maintenance job responsibilities include:

  • Employs safe work practices and follows safety guidelines established by the assigned department.
  • As appropriate, supervises the work of unskilled personnel.
  • Maintains appropriate records, writes reports and prepares correspondence as assigned.
  • Establishes and follows a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment in an assigned area of responsibility. Inspects and cleans tools after use. Orders and maintains supplies according to established City and departmental procedures.
  • Performs related duties outside of the area of specialization as required by specific jobs.
  • Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Physical Demand

Depending on assignment, positions typically exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
