Pay Range: $123,615 -139,738 annual compensation

An Engineering Manager – Stormwater Infrastructure Maintenance job is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation & Public Works Department, Stormwater Management Division. This position plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all aspects of stormwater and drainage asset infrastructure across the City, planning and prioritizing maintenance programs, and leading the stormwater asset management program.

As a manager, you would be responsible for leading the Stormwater Infrastructure Maintenance team; a creative, talented, and responsive group of City staff. By integrating customer service, with engineering and asset management principles, you will work towards optimizing maintenance service delivery for Stormwater program and our residents of Fort Worth. This includes helping residents to understand drainage challenges, resolving minor drainage issues, and guiding sustainable and efficient use of limited resources for maintenance of drainage infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of increasing responsible engineering and infrastructure management experience.
  • Two (2) years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.
  • Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Texas within six months of employment.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Highly familiar with hydrologic and hydraulic engineering, drainage, and civil engineering fundamental principles, practices, and techniques.
  • Experience in stormwater asset management, and optimization and prioritization of limited resources to deliver maximum customer value.

The Engineering Manager - Stormwater Infrastructure Maintenance job responsibilities include:

  • Manage and lead the Stormwater Infrastructure Maintenance team, identify skill gaps, develop talent, foster a collaborative and productive work environment, and provide technical and procedural guidance to staff and consultants.
  • Coordinate and prioritize field operations work, provide engineering support and guidance for the same, and respond to infrastructure failures and emergencies.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate a comprehensive stormwater asset management plan, decrease life cycle costs and safeguard the community. Maintain accurate and up to date drainage infrastructure maps, and drainage complaint reports.
  • Contract management and administration for multiple contracts. Prepare scope, budget, schedule, M&Cs, ensure quality of deliverables, monitor and administer contracts.
  • Prepare, update, and implement standard operating procedures, prepare and monitor budgets and performance metrics, and implement process improvements.
  • Apply hydrologic and hydraulic engineering principles to technically complex drainage issues, and explain the same to broad audience that includes residents to council members.
  • Coordinate on a variety of drainage issues with management and executive staff, other City departments, consultants, external agencies, residents, developers and developer consultants.
  • Educate and deliver presentations to the public, City staff, and other stakeholders, about drainage infrastructure and asset management. Promote and implement sustainable infrastructure and asset management practices.

Physical Demand
