Position Summary

The Maintenance Worker I performs manual labor tasks in maintaining the golf course turf and performing ground maintenance at the city golf course.

Essential Functions

· Mows greens, tee boxes, fairways, roughs and fringes, and wead eats as needed;

· Trims trees, plants, and shrubs;

· Applies chemicals, pesticides and fertilizers to turf area;

· Waters turf and grounds;

· Assists with maintenance and repair of equipment, paths, bridges and other facilities;

· Cleans and maintains repairs to clubhouse and maintenance building;

· Plants trees, shrubs, and grasses;

· Operates a variety of specialized equipment such as hydraulic reel mowers, tractors, utility vehicles and attachments;

· Cleans restrooms and removes trash;

· Assists with the maintenance and repair of the irrigation system;

· Performs a variety of ground maintenance including top dressing greens, changing caps, sand trap maintenance, leak repairs, and the hand showering of greens;

Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary

Complies with all organizational and departmental policies and procedures

Operates all job-related equipment, machinery, tools, and other aids as required or needed

Protects and maintains any confidential information, whether oral, written, or electronic

Marginal Functions

· Changes oil on machines;

· Greases machines;

· Sharpens rough mower blades;

· May perform other duties deemed necessary as needed.

Part-Time Maintenance Worker Position Requirements

• Experience: This is an entry-level position and experience is not required. The employee in this position is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well after six months in the position.

Education: High school diploma or GED is preferred.

License: Requires a valid driver's license

Knowledge, Skills, &Abilities:

FinancialAccountability:This position is not responsible for budgetary control of the department and does not participate in the annual department budget process.

• Supervision: Supervision is provided and decisions are always reviewed by the golf course superintendent. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities over subordinate personnel.

PersonalRelations:Occasional contact with other city departments and frequent contact with the general public is to be expected.

WorkingConditions:Adverse weather conditions, working with chemicals and pesticides, and working with heavy equipment and power tools are factors in this position.

PhysicalRequirements:Manual labor is required around 90 percent of the time. The ability to climb, crawl. bend, pull, lift, and stoop along with the ability to work in high places when pruning trees and walking over rough terrain is required.
