The City of Elkhart is Hiring a Part Time Event Aide Near Elkhart, IN
EVENT STAFF
Pay Rate: $14 per hour
JOB SUMMARY
Assists Event Coordinator with community engagement, planning, and implementing events throughout the Parks system for all ages.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises, monitors, and assists event participants with enrichment activities ensuring all participants maximum success and enjoyment at program site
Assists with special events and programs throughout the year
Works events for the parks during nights and weekends
Unloading equipment and setting up venues for events
Dispensing useful information to event-goers
Packing up and cleaning up event when completed
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the care and well-being of event participants
Supports overall Parks goals and needs throughout the year
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate of accredited high school/GED required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Good communication and time management skills
Conflict resolution and problem solving
Must be able to follow and maintain city policies, rules, and regulations
Ability to work in diverse work environments such as indoors/outdoors
Experience or interest in interacting with people with and without disabilities in a recreational setting preferred
Diligence and attention to detail
Ability to perform under stress
Conflict management skills
Must be a minimum of 18 years old
Valid State Driver’s License and reliable transportation to and from Parks Dept.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND VISUAL SKILLS
Maintains a cheerful and optimistic attitude
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to stay calm under pressure
Ability to lift at least 40 pounds or more at times, at least 20 pounds often
Ability to twist, turn, run, be active, and play
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works with a diverse amount of cultures and people within the community
Works inside and outside to provide programming in all weather conditions and seasons
Noise levels can vary from quiet to high
May involve driving to different locations and working out of different facilities
POST-OFFER TESTING REQUIRED
The City of Elkhart is a Drug Free Workplace. Therefore, successfully passing a post-offer drug screen is required (random drug testing may be conducted after employment).
Background checks producing acceptable BMV and criminal history reports are required.
