This Senior Financial Analyst role will supporting the Cigna Canada and all its subsidiaries companies in Canada. This role will be providing value-added, in-depth financial analytics for Management and supporting finance functions.
Responsibilities:
Review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
Review OFSI reporting and supporting lead schedules
Review US GAAP trial balance and prepare adjusting entries for IFRS reporting
Prepare quarterly actual vs plan reporting and provide variance analysis
Provide value-added financial analysis, profitability, KPI and trend analysis and Dashboard
Assist with Regulatory Capital and Investment Analysis
Preparation of plan and forecast
Prepare monthly management reporting with commentary
Leads in monthly, quarterly and year-end closing
Assist in the facilitation of audits with external auditors
Assist in maintenance of accounting policies and procedure documentation
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirement and internal policies
Research and analyze complex accounting standards
Research and monitor all regulatory changes and developments
Lead or coordinate finance projects and initiatives
Other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by manager
Knowledge and Skills
Experience using Oracle software
Must have experience working in Windows environment using Microsoft Office software and possess advanced Excel and Word skills
Strong knowledge of insurance accounting in accordance with IFRS and US GAAP.
Ability to analyze and interpret statistical and financial information
Excellent good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and work in fast-paced environment
Qualifications
Bachelors degree & CPA designation strongly preferred
3-5 years of financial analysis experience needed with a preference for Big 4 Accounting firm experience
Strong working knowledge in the insurance industry strongly preferred
Accuracy, attention to detail, adaptability, and ability to maintain confidentiality in respect of information handled
