The RN Clinical Supervisor is an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team providing direct patient care while also providing management of the team and oversight of the care facility. This role requires the ability to balance clinical skills with supervisory authority, providing leadership in clinical, financial, and personnel management. The RN Clinical Supervisor must apply current nursing knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to provide care to the patient and the patient’s family and coaching and guidance to the team they lead.
This entry level leadership role will oversee the clinical operations team at a smaller care facility, leading a team of approximately 3-6 direct reports primarily consisting of Medical Assistants. The RN supervisor has a primary focus of clinic RN responsibilities with a portion of time spent on managerial functions.
People Leadership Responsibilities
Provides leadership, guidance, and support for clinical team members.
Organizes and assigns duties and tasks to clinical team members to ensure an effective operation. Monitors daily performance of clinical team members to ensure duties are completed accurately, efficiently, and timely.
Ensures care provided by the clinical operations team is provided to patients in accordance with the appropriate professional and company standards.
Track and analyze patient and staff resource utilization at the clinic-level to increase efficiency and compliance. Monitors and controls overtime as appropriate to meet clinic needs.
Ensures clinic operations provides a safe environment for patients, visitors and other staff.
Manages facility and care related expense in a cost-efficient manner (i.e. ordering of clinical supplies, maintenance of equipment).
Promotes, monitors, and participates in all quality and process improvement activities.
Monitors Work queues and In-Basket messages to ensure compliance with established policies.
Manages recruitment and orientation of new staff.
Partners with Operations leadership to establish team goals, which are measurable and aligned to Evernorth Care Group goals.
Maximizes the professional development and education of team, partnering with Operations and Quality leadership as needed for support.
Holds staff accountable through coaching, performance improvement plan, corrective actions, and developmental opportunities.
Facilitates regular meetings and training efforts, such as team meetings, Dyad meetings, one on one’s with direct reports and other leadership meetings as applicable.
Implements departmental policies and procedures as needed to promote and provide quality patient care and customer service.
Responsible for ensuring that the facility is in compliance with State regulations.
Nurse Responsibilities
Triage patient calls and concerns, make outreach calls to patients’ post-hospitalization and after visiting the emergency room.
Support clinicians to help manage the complex healthcare needs of patients, lead and support the back and front office staff with regards to patient’s concerns or center needs
Maintain supportive relationships with multi-disciplinary team members in order to provide the best comprehensive care possible for our patients.
Utilize skills to draw blood, start and maintain simple IV infusions, assess and triage immediate response events, and support other team members, clinically, throughout the day.
Answer patient questions, concerns, and/or requests via patient preferred communication medium (i.e. MyChart, phone, in person)
Use your clinical skills to help manage the health care needs of our varied patient population.
Accurately follow all policies and procedures while providing excellent customer service
Practice in alignment with the scope of your licensure
Properly document your efforts of all the care and information provided to our patients.
Appropriately manage ambiguity and recognize appropriate ways to deal with conflict management.
Delegate tasks to clinical staff as appropriate
Serve as a resource for the team.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
RN with current Arizona license
BSN preferred.
Current BCLS certification
Experience as an RN
People leadership experience preferred.
Experience with State surveys preferred.
Experience leading others, directly or indirectly
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience in quality improvement initiatives and efforts
Experience building a team to achieve stated goals and outcomes.
Ability to solve problems and challenges and escalate as appropriate.
Experience leading change management efforts
Analytical skills, ideally around staffing models and budget management
