The Childrens Home of Reading Youth & Family... is Hiring a Youth Care Worker Near Reading, PA

The Children's Home of Reading Youth & Family Services, located at 1010 Centre Ave, Reading, PA, is seeking Full-Time Youth Care Workers to cover various staffing schedules. We are specifically looking to cover our 2nd Shift (2PM-10PM) schedule with limited availability in 1st (6AM-2PM) & 3rd Shift (10PM-6AM).

This will include being scheduled during weekends with one mandated designated shift as needed and 2 days off.

Please read description of position requirements in its entirety.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 Years of Age
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or any Human Services field (preferred)
  • Any equivalent to at least 2 years of college level course work or 60 college credits in a social/human service field OR
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development Certificate with at least 2 years’ experience working with youth.
  • Required to work on weekends as scheduled by supervisor.
  • Must past all pre-employment physical & drug screening include background clearances (Child, Criminal, FBI, and DMV)
  • Ability to demonstrate basic oral, written, and verbal communication.
  • Must attend all required trainings followed by shadowing prior to working on the unit.
  • Ability to work effectively among various levels of behaviors and maintain an atmosphere of safety, support, and guidance to ensure a positive environment.

Physical Demands for all Youth Care Workers

The employee is required to stand, walk, run, use hands and reach with hands and arms. The employee must have the physical ability to restrain a resident while utilizing the tenets of Safe Crisis Management training. The employee is required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, see, taste, and smell.

  • Assisting with the planning and supervising of programmed activities.
  • Maintain safety & security of residents and facility at all times.
