The Children's Home of Pittsburgh is seeking a Pediatric Physical Therapist Contract Workers to join us in providing Early Intervention home based services to patients birth to age 3 in Allegheny County and/or Butler County. The PT will be responsible to implement EI services according to child IFSP.
Therapists will have the ability to determine availability and schedule. Therapists will have the opportunity to collaborate with other physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language therapists, and developmental specialists. Office space will be available as needed for administrative tasks related to caseload. Essential Functions: - Must have the flexibility to schedule early intervention patients on evenings and weekends as needed.
- Provide Physical Therapy services to patients of all programs and external contracts.
- Physical Therapy treatment consists of evaluation, treatment planning, treatment implementation, consultation, documentation, follow up and discharge planning.
- Demonstrate awareness and ability to implement Physical Therapy treatment following all necessary safety precautions for self and patient.
- Ensure required documentation is completed for all patients within specific timeframes.
- The treatment provided is consistent with best practice, evidence-based practice, and adheres to all policies, procedures, and HIPAA.
- Ensure clear communication between the therapist and patient/family or other members of the medical team.
- Attends and participates in mandatory staff meetings.
- Demonstrate independence in professional growth through continuing education or other sources such as workshops, seminars, etc.
- Participate in the clinical education of students as appropriate.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program with 3-5 years of experience with the pediatric population. Early Intervention experience preferred.
2. Maintains current Physical Therapy License in the State of Pennsylvania.
3. Capacity to develop proficiency in the performance of various treatment protocols.
4. Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to effectively communicate and work with all staff including other therapists and members of the medical team.
5. Must have working knowledge of computers to complete documentation electronically and in a timely manner.
Functional Requirements: 1. Must be able to perform Physical Therapy services a minimum of eight hours per day.
2. Ability to sustain moderate physical activities including but not limited to getting on and off dynamic therapy equipment, sitting and moving on the floor, kneeling, and standing up numerous times, ability to hand suspended equipment from ceiling hooks, ability to move children in and out of developmental positions, ability to transfer children to wheelchairs, beds, cars, etc.
3. Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds independently.
4. Ability to communicate information in a professional and courteous manner with other staff and families.
5. Manual dexterity necessary to operate medical equipment, computer, telephone system, and other equipment.
6. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and/or access other means of transportation in order to travel locally for business related to The Children's Home.
