Lead Social Worker is responsible for:

    • Is responsible for the clinical department if the clinical director is not available
    • Training of new social workers in their responsibilities for their positions, providing them supervision to stay on documentation timelines, assigns tasks as needed
    • Embraces the Trauma Systems Therapy Model, and assists with aspects of implementing this within the agency
    • Oversees coordination of new admission, when asked by the clinical director
    • Provides psychiatric support and therapy to residents and their caregivers and documents such according to agency and professional standards.
    • Provides individual counseling and treatment, substance abuse counseling and treatment, trauma-informed counseling and treatment, family and group counseling, transitional counseling
    • Structures interventions to decrease problem behavior and increase positive behavior
    • Establishes treatment goals for children, utilizing historical and current available information in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team
    • Assists children and youth to develop skills as defined in treatment goals
    • Promotes integration with community resources and skill-building
    • Functions as a team member, by communicating effectively and consistently with family, case planning staff and medical practitioners
    • Provides psycho-education and wellness education
    • Enhances compliance with behavioral expectations.
    • Utilizes interventions drawn from evidence-based psychotherapeutic methodology
    • Monitoring and approving time off and approving time cards
    • Demonstrates competence in dealing with children and families from diverse backgrounds
    • Participate in ongoing professional education
    • Demonstrates working knowledge of:
    • Normative child and adolescent development
    • Indicators of developmental delay or disability
    • The effects of trauma, abuse, separation and loss
    • Family systems theory as well as family therapy
    • Human sexual development and behavior
    • Indicators of alcohol or substance abuse
    • Neglect and family violence

Requirement:

  • Licensed Masters Level Social Worker, marriage and family therapist or mental health counselor
  • Minimum 3-5 years of previous clinical experience preferred
  • Previous experience in medical of mental health field preferred

Position Summary:

The position reports to the Director of Clinical Services and is responsible for providing individual, group, and family therapy to children and their families or caregivers. Communicating with family, community members, and social services liaisons is also a vital part of this position. Lead social worker will help train new social workers and will provide direct supervision to clinical staff in regards to tasks, trainings, and day to day functions. Overseeing admissions for the program when asked to coordinate by the clinical director.
