The Children's Center is Hiring an Early Childhood Consultant - Utah County and eastern Utah regions Near Orem, UT

Summary
The Children’s Center Utah has an opening for an Early Childhood Consultant who will be working and traveling in Utah county and the eastern region of Utah. This position provides early childhood consultation services to childcare and other early childhood programs throughout this region. This position is a traveling position.
Responsibilities
  • Provide child-focused consultation - On-site observations of children in early childhood programs.
  • Conduct program-focused consultation to support healthy social and emotional development of young children, caregivers, and educators.
  • Teach workshops and support early childhood professionals on social, emotional, behavioral and mental health topics related to their work with young children.
  • Keep accurate records of activities, recording data in approved formats and generating reports as needed.
  • Participate fully in department and agency meetings, professional development activities and community outreach as assigned.

The Successful Candidate

You want to learn more about the growing field of early childhood mental health and consultation to help identify effective strategies and models that can be replicated in our state.
  • You are a skilled communicator. You have excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. You are comfortable interacting with people of all ages, ethnicities, races, abilities and economic and educational levels.
  • You have a passion that motivates your work and the work of those around you. You are (or are in process of becoming) an advocate for young children and those who care for them. Participating in systems and collective impact work is a professional opportunity that you welcome.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in child or human development, early childhood education, psychology or a closely related field
  • Direct experience with young children in group care
  • Skills and knowledge in presentation and/or coaching adults
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Regular travel required to visit community sites. Must have own reliable transportation to get to and from community sites with occasional overnight travel possible
  • Knowledge of community resources for young children, their families and caregivers
  • Additional experience with family child care is helpful
  • Bilingual Spanish/English speakers highly preferred

Compensation
Starting salary $40,000-43,000
