Job Summary

As a Youth Advocate, you will function as a youth mentor to emotionally disturbed adolescents in our 24/7 residential facility in Brooklyn. You will help the adolescents learn and master the basic activities of daily living, including social interaction, educational and vocational advancement, developing interpersonal relationships with peers and adults, emotional growth and satisfaction, and navigate the juvenile justice system. You will also mediate verbal disputes while modeling appropriate behavior in a respectful and socially acceptable manner as you mentor the youth in the facility.

Compensation

The Child Center of NY offers competitive salaries and benefits. Youth Advocate annual salary is $41,000, and Senior Youth Advocate annual salary is $50,000. There are opportunities for overtime and other supplemental payments. 

Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent, as well as prior experience working with adolescents is required. A bachelor’s degree in a mental health field and prior experience working with emotionally disturbed adolescents is preferred for Youth Advocate and required for Senior Youth Advocate.
