This position will provide one-on-one as well as group support for all guests in addition to a daily schedule of activities. Job QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED and (3) years of childcare experience working with children or youth in a residential environment (RTS I); or Bachelor Degree and (2) years of childcare experience working with children or youth in a residential environment (RTS I)An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Essential Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesWelcome children entering the facility upon entry and admissionProvides care, support, attention, and a positive, therapeutic atmosphere to all children in the department to which assigned.Maintain consistent, firm, and fair relationships with all childrenServes as an appropriate, positive role-modelProvides physical and emotional security for the children through intervention, correction, and re-direction of negative behavior when:Behavior is damaging to self;Behavior is damaging to othersBehavior may result in damage to propertyAssists with managing the physical needs of the children including health, hygiene, and physical comfort (food/clothing/shelter)Always maintains an active interest in and an awareness of the whereabouts and activities of each assigned child while on dutyAssists with maintaining an approach/program that follows the individual care plan.Assists with maintaining agency philosophy, policiesServes as an integral member of the treatment teamProvides formal and informal reports on behavior, attitude, and general disposition of assigned children, including:Incident Reports, restraint remediation sheets, time-out reportsDepartment logsBehavior Rating ScalesPrimary sheetsAttends conferences and meetingsParticipates in the planning, supervision, and provision of therapeutic and recreational activities Transports children as necessary including, but not limited to medical appointments, activities, schoolAssists with maintaining current inventory and/or awareness of all supplies, equipment, and furnishingsReports repairs as necessaryAssists with household dutiesAttend training to meet licensing requirementsUnderstand that the agency reserves the right to mandate overtime as needed to ensure the safety, supervision, and care of the residents in treatment. Core CompetenciesInterpersonal Skills: Demonstrated emotional intelligence with an ability to balance an empathy forward response with clients and throughout the organization.Communication: Expresses thoughts clearly, concisely, and effectively both verbally and in writing.Decision Quality: Possess a high degree of initiative, tact, and good judgment.Functional/Technical Skills: Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment.Adaptability: Adapts quickly to change and easily considers new approaches.Independence: Takes responsibility for own time and effectiveness.
