The Centers is Hiring a Psychiatrist Near Cleveland, OH

SUMMARY This position provides psychiatric care to a population of adults with a broad range of physical, mental, behavioral and social conditions. Responsibilities include psychiatric evaluation of patients, prescribing and managing medications, and coordinating care with other staff and community providers. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: License to practice medicine in Ohio, with at least 2 years of experience. Board certification in Psychiatry. Must have full prescriptive powers in Ohio with a DEA number. Must be available to work during standard hours, which include some late afternoon/evening hours. Current CPR certification or ability to get certification within one month. Must meet The Centers’ privileging and credentialing requirements as required by FTCA. If in recovery, must be able to document continuous abstinence under independent living conditions or recovery housing for the immediate past two years. To learn more visit https://bhw.hrsa.gov/funding/apply-loan-repayment#nhsclrp ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provides at least monthly assessment and treatment of patient’s symptoms and response to the medications, including side effects. Provides brief therapy Provides diagnostic and medication education to clients/patients, with medication decisions based on a shared decision-making paradigm Monitors all clients/patients’ non-psychiatric medical conditions and non-psychiatric medications If clients/patients are hospitalized, communicates directly with consumers’ inpatient psychiatric care provider to ensure continuity of care; and Conducts home and community visits Collaborates with the team leader in sharing overall clinical responsibility for monitoring clients/patients treatment and team member service delivery Educates nonmedical staff on psychiatric and non-psychiatric medications, their side effects, and health-related conditions Attends majority of treatment planning meetings Attends daily team meetings in proportion to the time allocated on the team Actively collaborates with nurses; and Provides psychiatric back-up to the program after-hours and weekends). Provides direct patient care, including but not limited to face-to-face or virtual psychiatric evaluation, consultation, day-to-day treatment, and discharge follow-up. Provides appropriate and timely response to clinical requests for service and reviews them for appropriateness. Completes documentation and orders in a timely fashion, in keeping with established guidelines. Provides consultation and clinical supervision to other members of the team. Reviews and approves the mental health assessments of individuals receiving mental health services. Reviews and approves the medical appropriateness of services and supports identified in the Individual Services and Supports Plans of individuals receiving mental health services. Works effectively with physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers, counselors, and all staff to ensure appropriate quality of care is provided to all clients/patients. Participates in and, at times, leads Provider Education Sessions on a variety of clinical topics. Participates in compliance and quality improvement activities as directed. Attends required meetings and training. Adheres to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and Centers’ policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security. Supports compliance with all privacy and security requirements pursuant to community partners’ and outside providers’ patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access. This includes immediate reporting of any PHI breach of The Centers or outside provider health records to the Centers’ Legal and Quality departments, as well as to the program administrator. Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to: active participation in community outreach activities as needed to offer services and engage patients in a non-coercive manner; occasional consultation or direct work with other Centers’ clinical sites; attendance and participation at off-site community events Competencies: Clinical Acumen: Broad knowledge of general medicine and general psychiatry, including psychiatric interviewing, evaluation and diagnosis, somatic treatments, psychotropic medications, various psychotherapeutic modalities, and chemical dependency. Specific knowledge and skill in community psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, organic mental illness, and competency and informed consent-related legal-ethical matters, risk management, and consultation. Keeps accurate and appropriate records/documentation. Displays non-judgmental attitude Communication: Excellent communication skills, including diplomacy, tact, effective “bedside manner” with patients. The ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented environment. Problem Solving: Solves difficult problems with effective solutions; probes all fruitful sources for answers; can see hidden problems; is excellent at honest analysis; looks beyond the obvious and doesn’t stop at the first answers. Must be comfortable with change and willing to lead change initiatives to improve workflow and clinical outcomes. Should be comfortable navigating within a multi-professional, interdisciplinary team, and taking responsibility for high-complexity clinical situations as they arise. Individuals are expected to contribute their thoughts on how our system of care can be improved and be able to motivate other team members to help in such efforts. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check. Must adhere to the agency’s non-discrimination policies. The ability to manage time and meet deadlines. The ability to work in an atmosphere where people may be hostile or abusive. Knowledge of de-escalation methods or willingness to be trained in these methods.
