The Centers is Hiring a Community Health and Advocacy Program Manager Near Las Vegas, NV

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive community health programs, with a focus on LGBTQ violence prevention and immediate linkage to HIV care services. The Manager will oversee aspects of the Center Advocacy Network (CAN) and Rapid stART programs, including program development, community outreach, staff and volunteer management, grant management, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Programming and staff to establish and lead organizational goals and programs that address both LGBTQ violence and HIV care, ensuring these initiatives align with community needs and meet the organization's objectives.
  • Lead the Rapid stART program in Clark County by spearheading the development, implementation, and maintenance of the HIV Rapid stART Response Team protocols, ensuring the immediate linkage of individuals to ART treatment through effective communication among HIV testing sites and Rapid stART Providers.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community hospitals, medical providers, and non-traditional testing sites to extend Rapid stART services, aiming for comprehensive coverage and accessibility within the area.
  • Engage in continuous training, capacity building, and stakeholder meetings to ensure the program's success and alignment with community needs and stakeholder expectations.
  • Lead the efforts of the organization towards dismantling oppression and provide leadership in recognizing the link between anti-oppression and anti-violence work.
  • Promote social change to impact the attitudes, values and behavior that contribute to LGBTQ violence.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with national, state, and local organizations to promote the organization and issues critical to needs of victims/survivors.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to staff on LGBTQ violence cases as needed.
  • Provide staff support or direct management of difficult cases or problem clients as needed.
  • Manage or provide crisis intervention services and intake interviews as needed, including “walk-in” clients.
  • Manage or provide on-going services to clients as indicated including, but not limited to, advocacy, information and referrals.
  • Attend weekly supervision.
  • Attend full-staff meetings.
  • Provide community outreach and education services for LGBTQ violence programs and The LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada services in general.
  • Attend in-service trainings and external trainings/seminars as appropriate/indicated.
  • Participate in community task forces, coalitions and committees as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with other Program Managers to ensure inter-departmental communication and cooperation.
  • Work with the Senior Director of Operations to help create funding opportunities (e.g. grants development) for LGBTQ initiatives as needed.
  • Undertake related duties as assigned

Educational Background and Work Experience:

  • Three to five years administration experience, which includes successful grant management and financial knowledge.
  • Minimum two years work professional experience coordinating program activities, working with volunteers, providing community education, and/or working with victims of domestic violence/sexual assault (education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis).
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in education, psychology, social work, gender studies, or other related area.
  • Experience with public speaking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Publisher.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with board members, committee chairs, staff, and volunteers.
  • Self-motivated team player with the ability to meet deadlines, remain flexible and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to recruit, train, supervises, motivate, and retain staff and volunteers within area of specialty.
  • Ability to assess operational requirements and to plan and organize workflow patterns and schedules.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and strategies related to victims of crime issues
  • Knowledge of culturally competent practices related to the LGBTQ community.
  • Ability to provide non-therapeutic crisis intervention and advocacy services to victims of crime and their families
  • Three or more years experience with anti-violence or social justice movements.
  • Transportation and the ability to work from multiple locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Strong verbal, public speaking, writing and computer skills needed.
  • Fluency in languages other than English, including Spanish, is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
