Summary Statement:

The Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) in Princeton, NJ has an immediate career opening for a Team Supervisor, AV Engineering and Conference Tech Support. This opening is located at IDA's Center for Communications Research in Princeton, New Jersey (CCR-P). This position supervises and participates in the day-to-day operations, maintenance, acquisition and engineering of all Video Tele-Conference (VTC) and Audio Visual (A/V) systems. The incumbent manages activities and develops, coordinates, and oversees all major architectures and systems requiring complex features and multilevel security requirements across multiple platforms and technologies. Contributes and plays a key role in the implementation of programs or projects that effect the organization's goals and objectives. Coordinates with other IT staff in support of operational tasks and requirements. Ensures configuration standards are maintained and adheres to IT best practices and corporate and security policy.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Directs daily activities to ensure scheduling and work assignments are maintained, to include the coordination and prioritization of project initiatives and daily operational tasks. Provides responsive support, mentoring and guidance to subordinate staff. Coordinates, assigns and reviews the work of team members, estimates personnel needs and schedules, and reviews work progress.
2. Supervises major design and implementation efforts for VTC systems at all classification levels. Ensures custom solutions are compatible with existing architectures, are well-documented and comply with complex security requirements, certifications and accreditation processes. Ensures all systems meet or exceed the business and security requirements in accordance with applicable IDA, DoD, NSA, DISA, DIA and DCSAS directives and guidelines.
3. Engineers, implements and administers new systems or major enhancements to existing systems. Maintains and assesses the current viability and future sustainability considering system architectures and organizational objectives. Performs industry surveys and analyses as required to determine if a suitable commercial solution exists or a custom solution is necessary.
4. Leads efforts to select, acquire, and implement both custom and commercial solutions/systems. Provides advanced subject matter expertise and guidance to ensure the appropriate security implementation, management controls, and connectivity with other IDA and non-IDA systems. Identifies operational concerns and recommends solutions to improve operations.
5. Maintains technical proficiency in new A/V and VTC technologies; keeps abreast of industry trends, and makes recommendations to improve or advance services and system performance.
6. Responds to critical after hours support issues.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related field coupled with eight years minimum experience in Audio Visual and Video Tele-Conference technologies, which includes at least six years of supervisory or project management experience and four years in a leadership capacity OR high school diploma with ten years minimum experience in Audio Visual and Video Tele-Conference technologies, which includes at least six years of supervisory or project management experience and four years in a leadership capacity.
• Possess advanced knowledge in designing, administering, and supporting A/V and VTC systems
• Experience with Cisco VTC Codes and Crestron control panels.
• Must be organized, self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form and with all levels of employees; possess good interpersonal skills.
• Project management experience desired
• Must be willing to work hours outside of a regular schedule.
• US citizenship is required
• Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearances.
• This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain the current DOD 8140 and/or 8570 certification or obtain relevant education substitution within 6 months of employment.
