The Caton Companies is Hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator - Staunton, VA Near Staunton, VA

Caton Construction Group, one of the Caton Companies, headquarters in Troy, VA is growing! Currently seeking Equipment Operator(s) for our roadway project in Staunton, Virginia.

The heavy equipment operator operates a variety of contractor equipment and properly maintains the equipment on a daily basis.

***MUST BE SKILLED EXCAVATOR & DOZER OPERATOR***

THIS JOB POSTING IS FOR OUR STAUNTON, VIRGINIA, ROADWAY PROJECT.

HIRING BONUS of $1,000

Starting pay is based on skills and experience.

Responsibilities

•Works with and assists in digging ditches and trenches, hoisting material, tools, equipment, and any related work with a backhoe, road grader or front-end loader.

•Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor.

•Plows snow and salts roads according to departmental policy.

•Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Normal days and hours of work are Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with time provided for lunch, hours may vary. Work may be local or out of town in which case overnight stays are required. This position frequently requires long hours and weekend work.

Travel/ Driving

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Driver’s license is required.

Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Four years’ experience involving the use of medium and heavy equipment, two of which must have been related to pipe operations.

Preferred Education and Experience: Valid CDL License.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday – 48 hours, 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday, and 7:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m. on Friday, with time provided for lunch, hours may vary. Work may be local or out of town in which case overnight stays are required.
