Catlin Gabel's Middle School is looking for substitute teachers! Substitute teachers work on an as-needed basis to cover teacher or teacher assistant positions. Training for substitute teaching will be provided, including use of online tools. The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

• Appreciate children and have an understanding of stages of child development
• Ability to lead students with kindness, and in an inclusive and culturally competent manner
• Positively establish, manage and maintain classroom behavior expectations
• Some proficiency with technology (e.g. Zoom)
• Ability to support students’ capacity to think critically, to infer, experiment and question using student-centered, experiential, and differentiated methods
• Ability to successfully implement lesson plans and follow routines as described by the permanent teacher
• Cooperate in school-wide supervision of students and ensure children’s safety
• Ability to adhere to on-campus safety protocols as outlined in the school’s pandemic management plan

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education required; MA preferred
• Minimum 2 years’ experience teaching early childhood and/or elementary school-age children
• Must be able to pass a background check through Oregon Child Care Division and Oregon Department of Education
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred
