Tampa Bay International School is Hiring a Bilingual Teacher (Spanish/English) Part-time Upper Elementary and Middle School Grades Near Clearwater, FL

JOB OVERVIEW:

POSITION: BILINGUAL (SPANISH/ENGLISH) TEACHER – Upper elementary/middle school grades

Tampa Bay International School, a small, independent Spanish immersion school serving students in grades K-7 for the 2024-2025 school year seeks a bilingual (Spanish/English) teacher to work with students in all grade levels – primarily in grades 3 and above. The desired applicant must be fully bilingual in Spanish and English and able to teach all subjects in both languages to multi age classes. Tampa Bay International School uses a dual language program in which Spanish and English instruction is divided equally to build fluency and literacy skills in both languages. Our school features equal amounts of Spanish days, in which instruction is delivered solely in Spanish; and English days, in which instruction is delivered solely in English. Our non-traditional school features arts-rich instruction, multi-age classes, and a curriculum that highlights social justice and environmental sustainability. We also offer optional Jewish Studies classes and a parallel program of Ethics and World Beliefs.

The desired applicant should be comfortable working with diverse groups of children individually and in small multi-age groups and fully capable of teaching academic content in both Spanish and English.

The desired applicant should:

· be an energetic, empathetic, and creative educator who loves working with children.

· be able to teach academic content in both Spanish and English.

· be able to teach effectively in an immersion classroom and remain faithful to the immersion method, by delivering instruction completely in Spanish on Spanish days and completely in English on English days.

· be able to differentiate instruction when necessary to effectively teach students of different ability levels; sometimes working with more than one reading or math group during a class period.

· collaborate well with others.

· fully support multilingualism and multilingual education.

· have experience working with children in an elementary and/or middle school setting.

· possess a degree in education or a related field.

· embrace the school’s belief in actively promoting social justice and caring for the earth.

· possess a love of the arts and a desire to allow children to express themselves artistically.

· embrace a global perspective that recognizes and appreciates a diversity of cultures.

· fully support the mission of Tampa Bay International School: to foster multilingualism, embrace diversity, and inspire children to work for a just and sustainable planet.
