The Campus is Hiring a Senior Summer Camp Counselor Near Downingtown, PA

Summer 2024

Want to spend your summer in the sun? Working under the supervision of the Childcare Director, this full-time position offers a great experience for those looking to work with children ages 4-13 in a fun and high energy environment. Note that this position is primarily outside in a variety of weather conditions, so you need to consider that prior to applying. Opportunities for yearly employment are available with our other childcare programs.

The candidate must possess a high school diploma and be over the age of 18 at the start of their employment. Previous childcare experience is preferred. Qualities and expectations of a senior counselor include:

  • The ability to lead and supervise a group of up to 18 campers and ensure a safe, fun camp experience as you follow a daily schedule of activities.
  • Engaging in camp activities such as sports, games, entertainment, swimming and kayaking with a positive, supportive attitude. You will help organize games such as gaga ball and soccer while demonstrating and encouraging good sportsmanship.
  • The ability to assist campers when they are displaying inappropriate behaviors. This includes involving other camp staff as needed and working as a team to resolve any issues.
  • Maintaining the safety and security of all campers by following safety guidelines, accounting for your group of campers at all times and being aware of interactions between campers that are cause for concern (for example: bullying, physical aggression)
  • A desire to build relationships with the campers and have fun while working! If you are enjoying your day, the campers will too.
  • The ability to handle sudden changes such as scheduling adjustments, group changes, inclement weather, etc.
  • The ability to tolerate summer weather (heat, humidity) and a willingness to spend a large portion of your day outside.
  • Contributing to a positive environment through your language, attitude, sensitivity and participation.
  • The ability to avoid distractions such as cell phones or other technology. We do not prohibit cell phones but using them for personal needs or leisure during your shift will not be tolerated.
  • Being a team player and working cohesively with other team members.
  • Have or obtain all necessary clearances (Criminal Background Check, Childline, FBI and NSOR)
  • Maintain a high standard of accountability that is in line with the goals of The Campus-CC.

The 2024 Summer Camp season begins on June 10th and runs through August 23rd, but we are looking to interview and hire now.

You must be available to work at least eight out of eleven camp weeks and be available for onboarding and training the week of June 3rd. Some onboarding may be done prior based on employee availability.
