The California State University is Hiring a Laborer Near Sonoma, CA

Job Summary

Available work schedule:

Sunday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Reporting to the Custodial and Event Support Services Manager, with additional lead work direction provided from other members of the Facilities Management team, the Laborer provides assistance in moves and set-ups for events, as well as general upkeep of the campus buildings and grounds. This position requires heavy, physical, manual labor to move furniture and equipment. The incumbent is required to use tools, climb ladders, operate powered equipment used in moves, and perform general cleaning and power spraying.

Key Qualifications

This position requires the ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; and perform regular strenuous manual labor. Beginning proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office is preferred. Knowledge of Google Suite, computerized work control system, and PeopleSoft preferred. The incumbent must successfully complete a pre-placement exam and must possess and/or obtain and thereafter maintain a California Driver’s License valid for the operation of any vehicle or equipment required to maintain and operate.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $3,505 to $3,819 a month. This is a full time, non-exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
