Essential Functions: Working under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of EOP Admissions and Outreach, the incumbent performs complex processes that support the operations of EOP Admissions. The incumbent performs highly complex Student Services professional work characterized by independent and group student advisement and guidance, to include providing effective pre-EOP admissions counsel to EOP eligible students. The incumbent interprets and implements CSU and EOP policies for EOP admissions processing and disseminates critical information that supports the decision-making of applicants to apply to the university and the EOP program. The incumbent actively collaborates with campus and community partners, such as the Office of Admissions and Recruitment, Financial Aid & Scholarships, University Housing and Residence Life, Center for Academic Success, and high schools and community college counselors; and supports recruitment activities and presentation requests to student populations underrepresented in the CSU. The incumbent provides lead work direction to student assistants and supports the Summer Transitional Programs. |
Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Two years of professional experience in Student or Academic Affairs at a public or private institution of higher education. The incumbent must have a working knowledge and understanding of the CSU and university admissions policies and academic requirements for applicant eligibility. The incumbent must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. The incumbent must have the ability to speak in public forums and conduct presentations. Travel and access to a reliable form of transportation is required. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the California State University. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current California State University employees who may apply for the position. California State University, Los Angeles, as part of the CSU system, is a State of California Employer. As such, the University requires all employees upon date of hire to reside in the State of California. As of January 1, 2022 the CSU Out-of-State Employment Policy prohibits the hiring of employees to perform CSU-related work outside the state of California. |
Desired Qualifications: Working knowledge and understanding of PeopleSoft (GET) and the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), to include an understanding of current policies, procedures, and legal mandates related to California State University (CSU) and Cal State LA admissions. Fluency in Spanish. |
