Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Outreach and Recruitment, the Director of International Recruitment and Services (DIRS) is responsible for the leadership and management of operations for international recruitment and services The incumbent also partners and collaborates with other campus units engaged in delivering international services and is responsible for enrollment management, communication, and outreach efforts for both domestic and international students attending international programs at SSU.

The DIRS works closely with the Director of Outreach and Recruitment, Senior International Officer (SIO), Director of Academic Degree Programs, faculty, the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO), university marketing specialists, and other leadership teams and administrative staff to develop, plan, and implement effective and efficient marketing, analysis, and communication solutions to enhance student recruitment, outreach, and retention practices. The incumbent serves as the Principal Designated School Officer (PDSO) for the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). The incumbent provides consultative services to the Strategic Enrollment Management’s leadership team regarding all aspects of international programs and relations, including but not limited to, planning, implementing, and leading global initiatives supporting international education and programs.

The DIRS actively manages communications and identifies international and domestic recruitment opportunities. The incumbent generates leads and students for all international programs, leveraging agent and institutional partnerships for SSALI programs and students considering studying one or two semesters at Sonoma State University (SSU). The DIRS also assists with domestic recruitments for degree and non-degree programs and acts as a liaison, developing contractual agreements with international and domestic partners, and creates, manages and analyzes international-focused marketing materials and data. The DIRS establishes a portfolio of international contacts, including universities, agents, government and non-governmental organizations as well as other networks in international student recruitment for higher education in the United States.

Key Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing or recruiting in a higher education or web technology field, including 3 years of progressively responsible and applicable management and/or supervisory experience, preferably in a higher education environment. Bachelor's degree in Education, Higher Education, International Business and Marketing, or Communication or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. A master’s degree is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge and experience with budgeting, marketing international programs and developing annual marketing strategies, enrollment management, curriculum development and web technology and/or Extended and International education programs required. The incumbent must be able to apply video and sound recording for marketing on such platforms as, but not limited to, YouTube, Podcasts, and interactive electronic help desks and possess a high level of proficiency with computer software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Knowledge of Google Suite, Adobe lnDesign and/or Creative Suite, web technology and PeopleSoft and experience with 508 compliance for disability, accessible websites, and documents preferred.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $3,750 to $7,554 a month. This position is a member of the Management Personnel Plan and serves at the pleasure of the President.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
