Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Custodian provides sanitation services for the Facility Services area in support of the general upkeep and maintenance of the University facilities. The incumbent cleans and disinfects shower stalls, commodes, urinals and sinks; washes all walls, doors, counters, light covers, and all stationary fixtures to include dispensers, mirrors, lockers, vents, shower heads, baseboards.

• Restocks tissue, hand towels, soap and sanitary dispensers; empties and disinfects all trash and sanitary napkin dispensers; replaces with clean plastic liners.
• Mops entry floor areas and rinses with clean water; cleans chalkboards, erasers, chalk trays and pencil sharpeners; dusts and cleans windows, sills, blinds, and furniture in classrooms and offices to include chairs, desks, tables, cabinets, and bookcases; vacuums carpeted areas.
• Cleans elevators inside and out; cleans all equipment and ensures it is maintained and safely stored at the end of each work period's use; performs setups as requested by the manager for events.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• A basic knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work is preferred. Must be familiar with all cleaning solutions and chemicals and the proper usage for cleaning purposes and safety.
• Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the duties of the position; follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position.
• Use custodial systems such as those used to track work orders and two-way radios for communication; observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required; perform work involving regular physical activity; and establish and maintain cooperative work relationships.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

• Classification: 2010 / Custodian
• The anticipated HIRING RATE is $3505. The salary range for this classification is: $3505 -$4715 per month.
• HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; 4:00pm – 12:30am, Monday through Friday.
• REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
