Description

Under the direction of the Program Director, and within the guidelines of all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and Agency code of ethics and policies and procedures, the Assistant Program Director will support in the supervision of peers, support staff, and interns.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Provide treatment to clients with substance use and co-occurring disorders utilizing the personal experience of recovery from alcohol and substance use to provide support and education to clients at different levels of recovery.
  • Will engage with clients using Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed interventions, and other evidence-based practices and other evidence-based practices to encourage and support participants with goal setting, program-solving, and self-monitoring of thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors associated with addiction.
  • Provide individual and group counseling and substance abuse treatment to clients; participate in interdisciplinary team meetings for the development of treatment plans and treatment plan reviews.
  • Manage the Intake and Admission process and assist with intakes when necessary.
  • Engage with members who are disengaged with the program.
  • Manages Crises that arise and is responsible for creating policies surrounding crisis management and policies that ensure effective and appropriate services.
  • Monitorization of team documentation in support of the Program Director of monitoring productivity.
  • Facilitates team huddles and meetings and manages daily operations with and in the absence of the Program Director.
  • Assist the Program Director in expanding Opioid Overdose Prevention Program within OASAS ensuring that all clients are offered kits and are trained.
  • Knowledge of the principles of recording and report writing.
  • Provide individual and group therapy when necessary.
  • Document provision of services in electronic and paper charts and maintain up-to-date charts in accordance with program requirements.
  • Provide support during crises as well as de-escalate crisis situations.
  • Leading and co-leading team meetings.
  • Coordinate care with other Bridge departments, outside agencies, and families.
  • Perform related administrative and record-keeping duties, including correspondence, reports, and filing.
  • Attend staff meetings, supervision, conferences, and training as required.
  • Adhere to all approved Bridge policies and procedures.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Master’s degree required; LMHC/LCSW preferred.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of theories, principles, and techniques of individual and group counseling and substance abuse treatment.
  • Work with populations impacted by substance use is required.
  • Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Knowledge of AWARDS and the internet and the willingness to learn and participate in co-occurring disorder and harm reduction training.
  • Physical Demands: This position requires moderate travel throughout the New York City metropolitan area using various modes of transportation including NYC buses and subways.
