POSITION SUMMARY 

To provide superior quality, competitive value and outstanding service under supervision of the Chief Medical Officer and in collaboration with the Physician Advisory Council, Chief Quality Officer, and other executive team members to provide leadership and direction for clinical services in relation to Family/Adult Medicine a Brevard Health Alliance (BHA). The Chief of Family Medicine is also responsible for providing direct patient care in their assigned department. 

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Master’s Degree in Public Health or Business Administration is preferred. 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years’ experience as a practicing physician in a primary health care environment, community health center, or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) 
  • Clear and active Florida Medical License 
  • Active Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine 
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License 
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross 
  • Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records 
  • Practice and personnel management experience 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Extensive knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and ailments. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventative health-care measures 
  • Understanding of value-based care

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight in Family Medicine/Adult Medicine with adherence to all regulatory bodies including Florida DOH, AAAHC, HRSA, and NCQA.
  • Provide direct patient care in their specialty per contract and meet standards of care, quality, and performance goals. 
  • Participates in recruitment, retention, and professional growth of clinicians within the field of Family Medicine.
  •  Participates and assists in peer reviews, annual reviews, 90-day reviews, and incident-based reviews of Family Medicine clinicians, when appropriate. 
  • Assists in the management of a staffing plan in coordination with the CMO and Director of Clinical Operations. 
  • Back up on-call for Family Medicine Services. 
  • Participates in quality improvement projects, in coordination with the CMO and Chief Quality Officer, in relation to Family Medicine. 
  • Participates in the planning of transitional care and coordinated care management (i.e. hospital to clinic). 
  • Participates in utilization review. • Works as a collective team member and performs other related duties as assigned. 
  • Direct, plan, and implement policies or activities, in alignment with the CMO, to improve organization operations and/or patient care. 
  • Takes ownership and represents Brevard health Alliance’s mission and organizational goals established by the executive committee. These include, but are not limited to: Productivity, quality of care, patient satisfaction, and employee retention. It is the duty of each BHA employee to incorporate these goals into all daily work routines and strive to achieve and surpass all goals by working as a team. The mission and goals of BHA will be incorporated into each associate’s keep performance indicators and will be evaluated on a monthly quarterly basis. 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Minimal travel requirements to conferences, training events, etc.
