Summary :

The Bowery Mission is a holistic, Christian faith-based organization that exists to promote the flourishing of New Yorkers overcoming homelessness and marginalization. As a key member of the Operations Team, the Facilities Associate is responsible in creating a hospitable environment for guests and residents, with an emphasis on providing clean, well-maintained spaces and grounds. Perform a variety of duties to keep common areas inviting and ready to use. Carry out physical review of assigned areas. Complete checklists, respond to work orders, help meet custodial needs across teams. Available to cover various shifts, including evening and weekend hours.

Reports to : Housekeeping Supervisor

Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm 

Responsibilities:

• As directed by the Housekeeping supervisor perform routine cleaning of the site: 
  • Clean and maintain all assigned bathrooms, hallways and stairways, and any other common areas.
  • Clean and maintain parking lot, sidewalks, and other exterior areas. These areas should be cleaned several times per day as scheduled/needed.
  • Use checklists for room-by-room walk-throughs; identify and perform cleaning tasks according to Standard Operating Procedures. Complete work orders.
  • Maintain safe and organized workspace.
• May assist program staff in the organizing and training of clients and volunteers for daily cleaning and special cleaning projects.
• Help provide excellent communication to boost self and team efficiency.
  • Interact daily with supervisor and program staff, including check-in on arrival and prior to leaving for the day.
  • Provide timely information to staff (notify supervisor of problems, let program staff know supply needs, etc.).
  • Help with cleaning needs before, during, and after events. Provide back-up as needs arise.
• Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including a maintenance room and inventory of tools, cleaning supplies and other inventory.

Requirements:

• Embraces the organization's Statement of Faith.
• High School Diploma or equivalent certifications 
• Must be legally authorized to work in US, we do not offer sponsorship opportunities at this time
• Able to safely bend, lift, and squat at least 50 lbs., and able to stand for long periods of time
• Strong personal initiative and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
• High professional standards of behavior, including maturity and accountability

Preferred:

• Experience working on a residential or commercial property in the capacity of housekeeping or the like.

Salary range (commensurate with experience & education): $17.50 - $19 per hour
