About The Bishop’s School
Founded in 1909 and affiliated with the Episcopal Church, The Bishop’s School is an independent, coeducational college-preparatory day school for 800 students in grades six through twelve located on a historic campus in the heart of La Jolla, just 10 miles north of downtown San Diego. With a student-teacher ratio of approximately 9 to 1, Bishop’s is known for academic, artistic, and athletic excellence while celebrating character development, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Position Summary Description:
The Bishop’s School seeks a full-time Spanish teacher for the fall 2024 semester beginning in August 2024 and ending in January 2025. Candidates will be asked to teach courses to students in middle school (grades 6-8) based on departmental need. The World Languages Department seeks candidates who are enthusiastic about collaborating on teams, designing learner-centered experiences in the classroom, and preparing students for an ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse world through language learning. By making the unfamiliar world familiar and by emphasizing the common humanity among diverse peoples, the department strives to prepare students for effective global citizenship and service to the larger community. In addition to teaching a full load of classes, faculty responsibilities include serving as an advisor to students and extended-day office hours for additional student support.
