Exterior Day Porter, Janitor, Goundskeeper, Driver

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Service assigned jobs to the standard set forth by The Bin Trash Spa.
  • Work independently on a designated route to clean various commercial businesses and residential managed properties.
  • Be able to work in any type of weather conditions.
  • Able to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Patrol the assigned exterior perimeter and entrances of the buildings to remove cigarette butts, papers, litter, and other debris. Additional clean-up required beyond normal policing may be required from time to time, such as light weed removal, or graffiti removal.
  • Removal of trash from trash cans/receptacles or pet waste receptacles on the exterior property and replacement of trash can liners. Clean trash cans and receptacles as requested.
  • Perform all assigned cleaning tasks assigned via the work order system.
  • Select janitorial jobs: inspect all public lavatories per shift for cleanliness and maintenance of an adequate supply of toiletries for replenishment of soap, hand towels, toilet paper, sanitary products, toilet seat covers. Clean mirrors, wipe down sinks and toilets, and remove dirt, stains, trash. Floors around toilet fixtures and under urinals should be mopped. Other duties as assigned include vacuuming, dusting, windows, and exterior porter services.
  • This role will also act as a relief for our Trash Bin Attendant role and will support as needed.
  • Manually load and service residential bins into truck. Containers may be staged curbside or require pullout to complete service.
  • Mechanically operate hoisting device to lift and service bins into truck hopper to be pressure washed.
  • Operate handheld pressure washing wand to clean the exterior of the bins.
  • Follow route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and check-out process.
  • Communicates with clients and relays client requests to the Chief Bin Officer.
  • Ability to operate a tablet and text message clients through the portal with service updates.
  • Ability to efficiently explain services to new clients and direct them to the website to register for service.
  • Keeps accurate records of new client sign-ups during the route.
  • Ensures the client’s location is clean and free of debris following the service.
  • Operates vehicle safely and in accordance with The Bin Trash Spa Safety Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements, as well as all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and documents checks utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report).
  • Maintains the company vehicles to the cleanliness standard set forth by The Bin Trash Spa.
  • Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service-related issues to the Chief Bin Officer.
  • Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by The Bin Trash Spa or directed by the Chief Bin Officer.
  • Works closely with the Chief Bin Officer to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
  • Notifies the Chief Bin Officer of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
  • Notifies the Chief Bin Officer of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too damaged to service or potential safety hazards.
  • Performs all duties as scheduled by the Chief Bin Officer.
  • Supports community and philanthropic efforts in partnership with company and contributes 1-2 hours per quarter through volunteerism.
  • Courteous, enthusiastic and guest-service oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • No driving disqualifications within the last three (3) years.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work on a team.
  • Ability to drive with multiple stops on route.
  • Meet physical demands of the role.
  • Able to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

Work Environment

  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as texting, machine operation, etc.) most of the work day.
  • Required to exert physical effort in order to continually handle a 96-gallon Residential container at its maximum capacity, and or a commercial lot sweeping machine. Note: The level of physical effort may vary from site to site.
  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves water, dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the work day.
  • Normal setting for this job is: outdoors and/or driving a vehicle.
