**Description**

The starting pay range for this position begins at $15.75/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements. Flex: a position working between 20-29 hours per week (between 1000 - 1559 hours/year).

The Security Officer will have the primary goal to maintain a safe and secure environment at the Inn on Biltmore Estate for both associates and guests. Safety Officer will spend a majority of shift on foot patrol, walking, climbing stairs of the interior and perimeter of the inn to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions. Officers will also maintain order in the inn, dealing with the welfare of guests (e.g. assisting with door lock and safe challenges); coordinate expedient response to emergency conditions such as fire or safety hazards and threats to life and or property in a calm, rational and persuasive manner; and will provide general assistance and support for the department, leadership, and the company as needed.

Schedules can vary, but are generally Sunday - Tuesday 8:00am - 4:00pm

**Essential Job Duties:**

1. Responsible for Inn access; monitors entrances/exits, conducts daily inspections.

2. Receive, record and store lost and found items. Research and respond to inquiries from guests concerning status of items. Mail out claimed items to owner.

3. Conducts safety and other investigations and audits; documents and logs incidents.

4. Escort guests and employees as required to parking lots; provide same for employees carrying house banks.

5. Assists guests with door lock/safe problems; controls access to lock-up areas.

6. Responds/coordinates in emergency situations; manage all fire alarms and emergencies within the property.

7. Mitigates liability/risk for people and property; ensures safe environment.

8. Maintain an audit of all card keys and hard keys to all the doors to the Inn.

9. Recommend safety ideas; participate in fire prevention and other life safety programs.

**Requirements:**

1. High school diploma. Additional training or certifications preferred.

2. At least one (1) year of similar experience in guest services support, safety, security, or a related field, preferably in an upscale attraction/hotel/resort environment.

3. Demonstrated commitment to delivering world class internal/external guest service and proven leadership skills.

4. Outstanding interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with diplomacy and tact Second language helpful.

5. Ability to write and complete reports in standard English.

6. Proactive and exercises good judgment; can problem solve and troubleshoot.

7. Ability to handle a variety of guest and employee situations in a professional manner; excellent attention to detail with a focus on service and quality.

8. Must be able to quickly acquire knowledge of Biltmore systems, and protocols.

9. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion is a must.

10. Must have or be able to obtain AED, CPR and First Aid certification.

**Physical Requirements:** *This position will require a physical exam at the Biltmore Clinic prior to starting work. An offer of employment is conditional upon the successful completion of this examination.*

1. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.; up to 75-100 with assistance in emergency situations.

2. Must be able to stand, walk, and climb as needed.

3. Frequent pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, and reaching.

4. Must able to physically respond and effectively coordinate in the event of emergencies.

5. May be exposed to dirt, pollen, chemicals, fluids, or other substances in the course of duty.

6. May work outside with fluctuations in temperature and conditions.

7. Must be at least 19 years of age and have valid NC Driver's License.
