The Berkeley Carroll School is Hiring an Art Specialist at Children’s Day Camp Near Park, NY

Berkeley Carroll is a Pre-K through grade 12 college preparatory school of 980 students located in the Park Slope section of New York City. Our vibrant intellectual community draws students from all over the city, admission to the school is competitive, and both our parents and students value achievement.

The Berkeley Carroll School is seeking an ArtSpecialist for its children’s summer camp in 2024.

General Responsibilities:

To plan and execute bi-weekly music lessons and classes at summer day camp for children between the ages of 3 and 10.

Dates:

June 24 - August 2, 2022 with mandatory orientation the week of June 17th.

Hours:

Art Specialists are needed two days per week from 9am - 2pm.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age and a college graduate
  • Must have a minimum of one of the following:
    • one season of previous experience at a children’s camp
    • one year of experience an art specialist at an elementary school
    • one year of experience working with children in an after school program or similar educational setting
  • Must be available to work the full seven-week session
  • Must be fully vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Planning and preparation for 12 days of art instruction during summer program
  • Implementation of 30-minute art classes and lessons for children
  • Reporting of any incidents or accidents to appropriate program personnel
  • Communications with parents as needed
  • Awareness of participant/counselor allergies, medications and emergency contact information
  • Other camp duties, as assigned
