The Beaver Companies is Hiring a Safety Supervisor Near Raleigh, NC

This position is responsible for the overall supervision of safety and health for various construction job sites.

Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Communicates with site supervisors, foreman, and employees 
  • Records and submits Safety & Training Records 
  • Checks for fire extinguishers, first aid, spill kits, and so on 
  • Reviews and audits 811-One Call markings, overhead/buried signs, electrical caution signs, barricades, work zones, road conditions, and so on 
  • Documents Safety Alerts, Near Misses, Accidents, and Near-misses in the field 
  • Conducts meetings such as training, toolbox talks, and safety stand up
  • Reviews safety policies and monitors for compliance
  • Conducts training on the correct procedure for air monitors 
  • Creates and maintains site-specific safety plans 
  • Checks crane daily’s, monthly’s, CCO’s, assembly/disassembly 
  • Provides employees with PPE needs and addresses safety concerns 
  • Maintains all posters for BWC, OSHA, and Emergency Contact 
  • Conducts checks for job-site cleanliness/organization 
  • Apply First Aid to employee injuries per company policies 
  • Reviews and audits Job Safety Analysis (JSA) 
  • Assesses job site hazards and is responsible for halting work until a problem or situation is corrected per the OSHA, MSHA, Customer, or Beaver requirements
  • Demonstrates initiative and professionalism

Skills & Requirements

  • Familiar with applicable health and safety requirements of all governing legislation 
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Exceptional documentation and writing skills
  • Willingness to attend additional training, as needed
  • Ability to lead trainings and safety meetings
  • OSHA 30-hour certification
  • Certified in First Aid & CPR
  • Specialized training, including but not limited to: OSHA 510 (preferred), BSCP certifications (a plus), confined spaces, trenching/excavation competent person, fall protection, silica, etc.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • 2-5 years' experience with mass excavation, utility work, rigging
  • Experience in construction safety
  • Experience with incident/injury reporting

Travel 

Daily to overnight, extended travel may be required. This position provides safety support to construction employees at various job sites located throughout Ohio and surrounding states.
