We’re seeking a future team member in the role of Director, Application Development Manager to join our Markets Engineering team. This role is in New York, NY – HYBRID model.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Specialist leading a team of Business Analysts and Developers to operate mission-critical trading system for Front Office Trading that are dependent on financial market transitions and support day to day enhancements across front office, Operations, and regulatory needs.
  • Extensive knowledge around Trading, Counterparty & Market Risk is mandatory.
  • Responsible for working with various teams on core trading software infrastructure like MUREX.
  • Understanding of Fixed Income, Equities and FX Financial Products is important.
  • Collaborate with quantitative group, Model Valuation Group and traders to design and test trading models.
  • Create and implement system testing procedures.
  • Ability to design and guide developers with optimal solutions to support trading needs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot the issues and suggest optimal solutions.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Solid understanding Trading & Risk Management Systems like MUREX or SUMMIT is Mandatory
  • Strong proficiency with Murex workflows, Datamart is Mandatory
  • Proficiency in understanding messaging frameworks – MQ/ Kafka
  • Strong Familiarity with testing frameworks
  • Strong familiarity with common tools like SQL, Workflow Tools and Understanding trading landscape.
  • People Management
  • Previous experience designing and implementing new systems and features independently.
  • Developed market data feeds and feeds to downstream systems for payments, settlements, collateral management.
  • Understanding of life cycle events around OTC derivatives and Cash Products across Fixed Income, Equities & FX
  • Understanding of regulatory landscape from a developer perspective
  • Brings production support experience and can troubleshooting issues under pressure.
  • Previous experience with application profiling and debugging.
  • 12-15 years of experience in financial industry with concentration around Risk domain
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree with relevant experience in Risk Domain. Advanced degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Knowledge of Unix/ Oracle/ SQL/ MSSQL, MSOFFICE, BI Tools is mandatory to perform the job.
  • 12 years of experience in systems analysis and program development with related supervisory, management and administrative experience required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

Manages multiple application development projects for one or several business segments, including all phases of the systems development and implementation process.

Provides analysis, design, development, testing and ongoing support for the client area application systems in an environment of diverse development platforms, computing environments, software, hardware, technology, tools, etc.

Works collaboratively with business partners on technology solutions that have a significant revenue or cost impact, oversees the development and implementation of multiple application systems and identifies resource requirements to ensure best practice development techniques.

Manages and forecasts operating budget within the approved plan. Communicates timely and accurate project-related information to relevant parties.

Acts as an advocate for change management, encourages innovation and creativity in technology solutions.

Recruits, directs, motivates and develops staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team. Manages multiple development teams. Contributes to the achievement of multiple teams' objectives.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $136,000 and $270,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
