The Baldwin School is seeking a full-time Upper School English teacher and Department Chair to teach four sections of Upper School English and serve as a thought leader in the department and school community. The English Department Chair works with Division Directors and the Dean of Academic Affairs to define, articulate, and implement the School's English curriculum from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. The Department Chair provides mentorship and academic leadership to department faculty members. Successful candidates will make meaningful contributions to co-curricular programs, engage in those duties typical of independent school life, and support the school's mission. They will have an understanding of and appreciation for girls' education.
Successful candidates will enjoy working collaboratively with other grade-level teachers to develop innovative and engaging lessons to meet the needs of all learners. They will possess expertise in a range of literary genres and time periods, and be committed to seeking out new voices to include in their classes. Successful candidates will engage students positively, with a growth mindset, and interact productively with colleagues and parents.
