SUMMARY:

  • The Foster Care Case Assistant is a full time, onsite, hourly role (37.5 hours per week)
  • Works daily with Child Welfare Specialists and Supervisors to provide supervision, transportation, advocacy and support for children and families served by The Baby Fold’s foster care programs. Will spend majority of time in the field, transportating and supervising visits. Agency vehicles available and encouraged for agency business.
  • Location: 1500 Fort Jesse Rd, Normal, IL 61761.
  • SCHEDULE: 37.5 hrs/week, variable to meet needs of clients, must be available evenings and potentially some weekends to meet needs of the clients served.
  • PAY: $19/hr for high school graduates, $20.00/hr for Bachelor's.
  • Opportunities to advance!!!: with a BA degree, starting as a Case Assistant is a great option for new graduates who want to "get their feet wet" in the social work/foster care field prior to applying for Child Welfare Specialist.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CASE ASSISTANT:

  • Supervision of parent/child visits: Works with caseworkers to facilitate family visitation (supervise visits between children and their parents) and other services for children and families served by the foster care program. Serves as an appropriate parental role model for family members during visits, monitoring for safety, and recording behaviors accurately.
  • Transportation: Provides transportation for children and/or family members to family visits, approved activities, other appointments, as assigned.
  • Ensures safety and well-being of children through constant supervision. Provides support for the educational and recreational needs of clients, as needed.
  • Recordkeeping: Completes family visiting records, case notes, and other required documentation
  • Crisis Intervention: Ensures that children’s’ needs are met and children are protected in crisis situations by following appropriate procedures and notifying appropriate personnel in emergencies. May attend to sick children, seek medical treatment as needed, and provide supervision to children needing emergency care or physical examinations as appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred.
  • MUST BE 21
  • Valid driver's license and adequate auto insurance required.
  • Must have at least one year of experience working with children or equivalent casework experience with social services.
