Job Overview:
The Awty International School seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented Facilities & Maintenance Coordinator to play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our school's facilities, grounds, and event logistics. This position requires a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys collaborating with diverse groups. You will manage various tasks, from overseeing housekeeping staff to coordinating special events.
Responsibilities:
  • Department Management:
    • Coordinate the department/school calendar, assist department personnel items (including scheduling, paperwork, and new hire transitions), and liaise with other departments.
    • Serve as the first point of contact for the department, addressing inquiries from the school community.
    • Oversee housekeeping, manage lost and found items, and assist with student fundraising initiatives.
    • Facilitate vendor relations for transportation, furniture, cleaning, landscaping, building maintenance, and any necessary departmental purchases.
    • Coordinate room reservations for all facilities.
  • Facilities & Maintenance:
    • Conduct routine inspections, identify maintenance needs, and manage repairs through vendors.
    • Oversee maintenance staff, including scheduling and ensure adherence to time cards.
    • Manage furniture donations and coordinate grounds maintenance with landscaping companies.
    • Coordinate charitable donations of outdated school furniture and equipment.
  • Event Coordination:
    • Assist in coordinating, and setting up for all school events, ensuring signage is prepared and distributed.
On-Call Support:
  • Be available on-call to address urgent facilities-related issues.
  • Physical and Visual Requirements:
    • Physical Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat and move around the school campus on a consistent basis for extended periods.
    • Capability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs., such as equipment or supplies, as needed for various tasks.
    • Visual acuity and depth perception to inspect facilities and identify maintenance needs accurately.
    • Proficiency in using visual aids and equipment, such as diagrams, blueprints, and measurement tools, for facility assessments and planning.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and abilities, including students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management or a related field.
  • Experience working in an educational environment is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software programs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish)
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be available to work some evenings and weekends.
