The Assistant Nursing Home Administrator assists the facility Nursing Home Administrator in directing the day-to-day functions of the facility in accordance with current federal, State and local standards governing long-term care facilities to ensure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to the residents at all times, and provides leadership and direction for overall facility operations.
·Must be a licensed Nursing Home Administrator in good standing and meetall applicable federal and State licensurerequirements, and maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment;
·Meet the Education and Experience requirements outlined below;
·Must be able to read and interpret financial records and reports;
·Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant;
·Demonstrated leadership and supervisoryskills;
·Must speak and understandEnglish;
·Must exhibit excellent customer service skills, and must be able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team;
·Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures, as well as the laws, regulations and guidelines governing post-acute care facilities;
·At least three (3) years of previous post-acute care experience in a hospital or long-termcare facility setting strongly preferred, with supervisory experience a plus;
·Patience, tact, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward theelderly.
Essential Job Functions:Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Assist the facility Nursing Home Administrator (NHA), or take the lead in these functions when the NHA is not in the facility, or as otherwise directed by the NHA:
A.Administrative, Safety and Staff Development Functions
Duties:
·Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth and personal interest, ensuring a positive, calm environment throughout the facility;
·Ensure that each resident receives the necessary nursing, medical and psychological services to attain and maintain the highest possible mental and physical functional status;
·Assist department directors in developing and using department policies and procedures and establish rapport among all departments;
·Interpret and ensure compliance with all facility policies and procedures by all employees, residents, families, visitors, government agencies and the general public;
·Represent the facility at and participate in top level meetings and contacts with facility's governing boards, the medical community, outside support agencies, ancillary providers and private and governmental agencies;
·Plan, develop and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program;
·Identify problems and deficiencies and develop and implement appropriate plans of action to correct deficiencies;
·Develops a strong working relationship with the Director of Sales and Marketing and Regional Marketing support team to ensure facility is maximizing its marketing efforts and resources in the local community;
·Assist in overseeing the census planning process, achievement of the census development budget, and attend daily admissions meeting to ensure admission criteria, both clinically and financially, are met;
·Assist in ensuring that all personnel, residents and visitors follow established policies and procedures, including safety regulations, fire protections and prevention policies, smoking regulations, infection control procedures, and waste and disposal procedures;
·Assist in ensuring that the facility and surrounding grounds are maintained in good repair;
·Assist in reviewing accident and incident reports and help establish effective accident prevention programs; and, assist in ensuring that all personnel attend and participate in Hazardous Communication and Universal Precautions training programs prior to reporting for work assignments;
·Maintain professional competence and keep abreast of changes in the long-term care field through attendance and participation in continuing education programs, workshops, seminars and training programs;
·Assist department directors in planning, developing, conducting and scheduling orientation, in-service training, on-the-job training and other educational activities for personnel to ensure that current materials and programs are continuously provided; and, meet with department directors on a regular basis and encourage, conduct and participate in in-service classes and supervisory level training programs;
·Must maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or company confidential information;
·Maintain resident confidentiality and privacy, treat residents with kindness, dignity and respect, and know and comply with Residents Rights, HIPAA/HITECH, and report complaints and concerns as required by law and Avante protocols;
·Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner at all times.
B.PersonnelFunctions
Duties:
·Supervise and direct designated department directors in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, disciplining and terminating personnel to maintain and ensure an adequate staff of qualified personnel at all times;
·Maintain proper documentation and records on all personnel in accordance with applicable regulations and Avante protocols;
·Delegate administrative authority, responsibility and accountability to other personnel as deemed necessary to ensure performance of all assigned staff positions;
·Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner at all times.
C.Budget, Planning and Inventory Functions:
Duties:
·Review and interpret monthly financial statements and provide information to the facility's governing board;
·Assist in the establishment and maintenance of adequate accounting systems;
·Help prepare annual operating budgets;
·Assist in allocating sufficient resources to maintain facility programs and activities;
·Maintain and ensure adequate financial records and cost reports;
·Assure compliance with Federal conditions of Nursing Home participation and State Regulations for Nursing Operations;
·Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner at all times.
·While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; lift and/or move equipment (generally up to 25 pounds) or residents; grasp; stoop, bend, kneel or crawl; talk or hear; respond to pages; distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures; remain calm under stress;
·Works in a climate-controlled and well-lighted environment, and primarily works in an office and throughout the facility daily;
·Is subject to interruptions and noise on a daily basis;
·May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals and materials, and is trained in Avante's safety program and related protocols;
·Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus;
·Always being able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner;
·Works beyond normal working hours asnecessary, including weekends and holidays.
·Must be currently licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator in the State of Florida, and must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment;
·Must have at least a Bachelor'sDegree from an accredited college or university;
·At least three (3) years of previous post-acute care experience in a hospital or long-termcare facility setting strongly preferred, with supervisory experience a plus.
