Surgical Scheduling Coordinator
Medical office looking for a Medical Receptionist.

FULL TIME REQUIRED

$16.00 per hour - Depending on experience.

Must be flexible with working hours- Office is open 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Interact with patients’, physicians and other staff both within the Clinic and at outside facilities providing accurate, timely and responsive information.
• Coordinate processes and route all paperwork and necessary insurance authorizations as required to meet physician and facility requirements.
• Ensure efficient telephone communication.
• Follow all written protocols and procedures.
• Demonstrate courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and their families.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Schedule mutually acceptable appointment times for patients and physicians using computerized scheduling system.
• Triage surgical candidates as required by the physicians
• Work with appropriate hospital personnel to obtain information as required for surgery scheduling.
• Educate patients about planned surgery.

• Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent / emergent situations per protocols.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff and management.
• Effectively cope with typical job stress.
• Document work processes as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Certification/Licensure: Not required.

Experience: One of the following:

• 1 year experience as a surgical scheduler or related field
• 1 year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Spanish speaking is a plus.

Skills:

***Experience with EClinical Works is a plus ***

• Medical terminology.
• ICD-10 / CPT Coding.
• Basic typing and keyboarding skills.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with customer service and multi-line phones.
• Familiarity with computers and other office equipment.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to prioritize responsibilities.
• Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
• Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing.
• Knowledge of contracted insurance plans and procedures.
• Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.
• Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and peers.
