The Arc Wayne of Newark, NY is seeking to hire a full-time organized, caring and reliable Residence Supervisor for our Residential Program to monitor service provisions in Newark, NY to promote community integration and maximum level of independence in activities of daily living. You will assume responsibility for the overall operation of the assigned residence in the Residential Program.

Our Residence Supervisors earn a starting wage of $22.58 per hour. We also offer excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with company match, paid holidays, paid sick time and generous vacation time.

A Day In The Life As A Residence Supervisor:

  • Trains, implements and monitors Staff Action Plans, Protective Oversight Plans and Behavior Support/Monitoring Plans.
  • Assures adequate staffing to meet program and/or individualized needs as identified. Responsible for house staffing schedules and creating staff assignment sheets.
  • Assures a healthy, safe, sanitary living environment. Assumes general oversight of physical plant and equipment.
  • Provides supervision to staff to include orientation, training, and monitoring of performance. Provides periodic observation of staff during evening and overnight shifts. Completes any necessary disciplinary action and initial/annual performance appraisals of all assigned staff.
  • Reviews applications for vacant positions and interviews candidates in a timely manner. Makes hiring recommendations and completes necessary paperwork.
  • Responsible for the daily operation of residence and service provision to individuals to include, but not limited to; paying household bills, household/individual purchasing, transportation, family visits, recreation, medication administration, distribution of individual funds, etc.
  • Supervises record maintenance, documentation of service provision (i.e. - residential habilitation, behavior tracking, monthly summaries, medical tracking, medical appointments, daily logs, etc.) and completion of Agency and Program specific required forms.
  • Attend Individual Life Plan meetings.
  • Ensures completion of individual assessments at least yearly or as changes occur (i.e. - pedestrian safety, individual skills) and shares results with QIDP.
  • Reviews Internal Events, ensures completion and appropriate follow-up, and submits to Senior Residence Supervisor for review.
  • Conducts and/or supervises implementation of self-preservation tests/fire drills according to Program policy and procedure. Maintains records of tests/drills and forwards reports to Senior Residence Supervisor.
  • Maintains financial accountability of household petty cash, individual personal allowance, individual gift cards, and checking/savings accounts. Enters financial transactions as necessary onto electronic and paper ledgers.
  • Completes benefit and entitlement re-certification as needed (i.e. - SNAP, SSI).
  • Responsible for annual paperwork completion and uploads (i.e. - annual PEP, MMP, Rental Agreements, PA option statements, etc.).
  • Participates in household budget preparation and maintenance of site budget.
  • Conducts monthly physical plant inspections and submit tickets as needed.
  • Monitors maintenance/upkeep of assigned Agency vehicles
  • Acts as agency liaison to families, individual care coordinators, day programs, clinic, etc.
  • Schedules and manages team meetings.
  • Responsible for monthly documented 1:1 meetings with all Assigned staff.
  • Responsible for reviewing applicable intake packets, scheduling visits, and sharing visit feedback to Residential Intake Committee.
  • Responsible for updating house IPOP’s.
  • Assists with service provision to meet individual’s needs. Assumes direct care responsibilities on an as needed basis.
  • Adheres to Agency and Program policies and Procedures.
  • Responsible for complying with Safe Patient Program (i.e. - testing of staff and equipment) as written in the Residential Policy and Procedure manual.
  • Responsible for reviewing all internal and external audit findings. Assists in preparation of audit responses and corrective actions as determined by Senior Residence Supervisor.
  • Completes all other duties as assigned.

As an Residence Supervisor (RS) you will provide support to a team of Direct Support Professionals and a Residence Team Leader. This includes assuring adequate staffing to meet the needs of people supported, including interviewing, hiring, training, and development of the team, and can assume direct care responsibilities on an as needed basis during staffing shortages or increased needs of individuals receiving services.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with flexibility to meet program need.

Job Status: Non-Exempt

Minimum Skills and Competencies

Associates Degree in Human Resources or related field, one year experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and one year supervisory experience.

OR

High School Diploma or GED, one year experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and three years’ supervisory experience.

Combination of education and experience may be considered.

Must possess a current, valid New York State driver’s license that meets the Agency driver standards.

Must complete and maintain certifications as designated by the agency including, but not limited to, SCIP-R, First Aid/CPR, and Medication Administration.

Must demonstrate proficiency in the understanding and implementation of safe patient handling with The Arc Wayne’s policies.

Ability to stay calm and level headed under pressure and still perform effectively.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports.

Must demonstrate sound judgment, sensitivity, objectivity and tact.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to foster teamwork between all members via open communication and sharing of responsibilities.

Ability to complete the agency’s new employee and program orientation training programs.

Basic computer literacy including use of email, internet and web-based programs.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on an occasional to frequent basis. Must be able to alternate between sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, twisting and crawling on a frequent basis.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

Must be able to alternate between sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, twisting and crawling on a frequent basis throughout the day. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on an occasional to frequent basis. Must be able to read, write and communicate with adults on a frequent basis. Must possess sight and hearing within a normal range (with or without corrective devices). Must support individuals with personal care including toileting, showering and changing soiled clothing. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens, excessive noise, and cleaning chemicals. May be required to work both indoors and outdoors. Responsible for a residential setting that is open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Shifts will include working on some holidays as well as during inclement weather. Overtime may be required as needed.
