The Arc Wayne of Newark, NY is seeking to hire a full-time organized, caring and reliable Residence Supervisor for our Residential Program to monitor service provisions in Newark, NY to promote community integration and maximum level of independence in activities of daily living. You will assume responsibility for the overall operation of the assigned residence in the Residential Program.
Our Residence Supervisors earn a starting wage of $22.58 per hour. We also offer excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with company match, paid holidays, paid sick time and generous vacation time.
A Day In The Life As A Residence Supervisor:
As an Residence Supervisor (RS) you will provide support to a team of Direct Support Professionals and a Residence Team Leader. This includes assuring adequate staffing to meet the needs of people supported, including interviewing, hiring, training, and development of the team, and can assume direct care responsibilities on an as needed basis during staffing shortages or increased needs of individuals receiving services.
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with flexibility to meet program need.
Job Status: Non-Exempt
Minimum Skills and Competencies
Associates Degree in Human Resources or related field, one year experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and one year supervisory experience.
OR
High School Diploma or GED, one year experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and three years’ supervisory experience.
Combination of education and experience may be considered.
Must possess a current, valid New York State driver’s license that meets the Agency driver standards.
Must complete and maintain certifications as designated by the agency including, but not limited to, SCIP-R, First Aid/CPR, and Medication Administration.
Must demonstrate proficiency in the understanding and implementation of safe patient handling with The Arc Wayne’s policies.
Ability to stay calm and level headed under pressure and still perform effectively.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports.
Must demonstrate sound judgment, sensitivity, objectivity and tact.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to foster teamwork between all members via open communication and sharing of responsibilities.
Ability to complete the agency’s new employee and program orientation training programs.
Basic computer literacy including use of email, internet and web-based programs.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on an occasional to frequent basis. Must be able to alternate between sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, twisting and crawling on a frequent basis.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Must be able to alternate between sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, twisting and crawling on a frequent basis throughout the day. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on an occasional to frequent basis. Must be able to read, write and communicate with adults on a frequent basis. Must possess sight and hearing within a normal range (with or without corrective devices). Must support individuals with personal care including toileting, showering and changing soiled clothing. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens, excessive noise, and cleaning chemicals. May be required to work both indoors and outdoors. Responsible for a residential setting that is open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Shifts will include working on some holidays as well as during inclement weather. Overtime may be required as needed.
