Job Title: GPAS Mentor

Job Description:

$500-$1000 SIGN ON BONUS AVAILABLE, BASED ON EXPERIENCE. GREATER PLYMOUTH AUTISM SERVICES IS A NEW PROGRAM THAT SUPPORTS ADULTS WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER TO CREAT A COMMUNITY TO MEET PERSONALAND PROFESSIONAL GOALS. AREAS OF FOCUS INCLUDE: SELF-IDENTITY, LIFE SKLLS, RELATIONSHIP BUILDING, EMPLOYMENT, MINDFULESS, AND INCREASED AUTONOMY AND SELF CONFIDENCE.

About Us:

Greater Plymouth Autism Services is a new program specifically designed to support adults with autism spectrum disorder. We are committed to helping each person reach their full potential by building an inclusive, neurodivergent community that supports and empowers adults with ASD. Greater Plymouth Autism Services recognizes that no two people are alike, and therefore strives to explore individualized visions for the future, promote independence and champion unique talents and abilities. Areas of focus include self-identity, life skills, building social relationships, and increasing autonomy and self-confidence.

Position Summary:

Greater Plymouth Autism Services is seeking motivated full-time mentors to work hand in hand with adults with ASD to provide meaningful support and guidance to achieve their life-vision.

This role involves developing strong, trust-based relationships with people, understanding individual needs and aspirations, and assisting in navigating life's challenges.

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about developing and maintaining supportive, empowering relationships with adults on the autism spectrum along with a commitment to promoting neurodiversity and inclusion. Essential Job Functions:

· Assist people to establish a vision for short term and long-term goals.

· Assist people in maximizing executive functioning skills including, but not limited to organizational planning, emotional regulation, self-monitoring, mindfulness, etc.

· Work with mentees to establish achievable goals and develop actionable plans to attain them.

· Help mentees access and utilize community resources, including educational programs, vocational training, and social activities.

· Ensure the rights and dignity of all people are supported and always upheld.

· Thoroughly complete all required documentation including incident reports, daily notes, ISP required documentation, etc.

· Provide transportation as required.

Other Job Functions:

· Contribute to the overall positive morale of the program.

· Assist individuals supported create a community within their program.

· Demonstrate conduct in keeping with The Arc of Plymouth and Upper Cape Cod’s Ethical Code of Conduct.

· Demonstrate professionalism and commitment to teamwork at all times.

· Attend mandatory staff meetings, in-services and annual training.

· Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements (knowledge and critical skills)

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Success developing positive therapeutics and working relationships with diverse stakeholders.

· Ability to assess problem situations to identify causes, gather information, and act appropriately.

· Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Qualifications:

· Education: High School Diploma required. College degree preferred.

· Experience: 2-3 years of experience working with people with autism.

· CPR/First Aid certification required (provided via in-house training).

Job Type: Full-time, in person.
