JOB SUMMARY
Complete facilities repairs and maintenance as assigned while safeguarding The Arc staff, clients and property. Promote and demonstrate the values, vision and mission of The Arc ensuring the respect, dignity, safety and well-being of clients at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Report to scheduled shift consistently and on time.
Follow policies, procedures and rules of the organization
Serve as a role model and demonstrate, encourage and offer direction in fairness, consistency,
attentiveness, ability to work with others, appropriate dress and appearance, and effective conflict
resolution.
Treat all clients, parents, guardians, co-workers, supervisors and people in the community with respect and
dignity.
Maintain confidentiality of those we serve.
Promote and participate in open and effective communication.
Advocate for clients’ rights.
Assist in the operation of facility maintenance functions.
Inspect building for maintenance issues.
Respond to and complete maintenance requests as assigned.
Develop and provide cost estimates for labor and material to be used for renovation and repair.
Perform a variety of brick, cement, and carpentry work.
Install, maintain, and repair valves, sinks, sewers, and other sanitary fixtures.
Install, maintain, and repair electric motors, generators, and related electrical and mechanical equipment.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, cost of repairs, pending projects and ensure all work is
documented in a work order system.
Provide maintenance services within the allocated budget.
Instruct Arc staff in appropriate building and equipment maintenance.
Receive, inventory, and maintain materials and supplies.
Ensure that equipment under warranty is tracked and the appropriate action is taken to resolve repair,
service or replacement issues.
Assist with development and implementation of safety programs for all Arc buildings.
Assist in safeguarding and protecting Arc buildings and properties during emergency evacuations,
disasters and aiding in recovery and restoration efforts.
Attend meetings and in-service training sessions as needed or mandated to maintain and improve
knowledge and skills.
Perform and assist with other duties as assigned by supervisor.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two years proven experience in building maintenance work.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS
Considerable knowledge of the modern methods used in the routine maintenance of buildings and facilities.
Considerable knowledge in the use and maintenance of common hand and power tools.
Some knowledge of County and State laws, codes and ordinances governing building, electrical and
plumbing standards.
Knowledge of emergency and disaster preparedness for facilities and equipment.
Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize.
Ability to work independently and in team settings.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
Care properly for equipment and resources.
Must be a qualified driver and have reliable transportation.
Ability to promote the dignity and respect of those we serve.
Maintain positive interactions with clients, parents, guardians, co-workers, supervisors and people in the
community.
