The Ambulatory Surgery Center at St. Mary is Hiring a Patient Care Assistant/Anesthesia Technician Near Langhorne, PA

The Ambulatory Surgery Center at St. Mary is seeking a full-time Patient Care Assistant/Anesthesia Technician.

The Patient Care Assistant/Anesthesia Technician is responsible for supporting the throughput and efficient flow of patients throughout the pre- and post- operative care areas; as well as assisting with the turnover of anesthesia equipment and Operating Rooms in the operative suite.

Reports To: Director of Nursing, Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate
  • Experience in similar role and patient care setting preferred
  • Able to multitask
  • Attention to time management and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Accuracy of information
  • Strong analytical, problem solving & organizational skills
  • Requires team-oriented person with strong interpersonal and cross-functional working skills in dealing with internal and external customers
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both verbal and written, with all levels of management and external customers
  • Able to work effectively manage time and work efficiently under time constraints while delivering results by critical deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of clinical and medical terminology preferred
  • Knowledge of general office procedures, such as copying, faxing, filing, and shredding
  • Innovative and creative in the form of continuous improvement to internal processes
  • Flexible and adaptable to change

OCCUPATIONALEXPOSURE

  • Exposure to blood and body fluids
  • Patient contact

ACCESS

  • Access to PHI is required for this role, adherence to HIPAA and compliance policies is required

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist nurses in all departments with patient transport as needed
  • Assist patient discharge utilizing wheelchair
  • Clean and remake stretchers, wipe monitors and cables between each patient
  • Take refuse and linen to proper storage areas as needed
  • Assure adequate linen supply for each area
  • Restock supplies as needed in coordination with the Inventory Specialist
  • Run errands as assigned
  • Assist with cleaning anesthesia equipment in Operating Room following procedures
  • Assist with cleaning, maintaining and packaging used anesthesia materials and equipment
  • Coordinate with operative team to facilitate room turnover and patient throughput
  • Demonstrate cooperative nature with physicians and nurses while responding to the needs of the patient
  • Maintains consignment, conducts regular inventory
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Executes job tasks consistently with minimal error
  • Conducts self in a way that is consistent with the content and intent of the Standards of Behavior and Code of Conduct

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Moderate physical effort; ability to lift 10 lbs; prolonged sitting, moderate bending, reaching, standing, stooping; read, write and understand English, near visual acuity and color discrimination; ability to maintain a courteous and professional demeanor in all circumstances; ability to deal with difficult personalities.
