Job Summary The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges. The Modeling and Simulation Computing Department (MSCD) consists of a team dedicated to ground-breaking software solutions and capabilities for government and commercial customer needs. We enable detailed and complex modeling, analysis, optimization, and visualization of satellite orbits, system architectures, and engineering trade-spaces to provide customer decision support for the future of space. What You'll Be Doing: Act as a department senior liaison, providing proactive coordination and consultation to customers and Aerospace staff across the company; specifically, lead software architecture design teams for elements of the subdivision’s effort to modernize major software workflows for high performance and cloud computing on internal and external compute resources. Initiate and conduct efforts to grow and sustain our modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities to support new and existing functional areas including digital engineering and cloud computing Apply leadership and coordination across multi-disciplinary technical leaders, Aerospace Program Office personnel, and external customers. Partner with analysis leads to exercise influence on key stakeholders and customers by leading engagement efforts as we modernize our modeling and simulation workflows. Support organizational and capability strategic planning, identifying opportunities to leverage development and analysis across diverse projects and analysis types while suggesting ways to close capability gaps. Engage with software end users and customers to refine capability requirements. Mature technical expertise in the department through mentoring team members and directing workflow development. Routinely communicate project progress, including recommended design solutions to technical leads, management, and customers Travel as necessary to support customer efforts. What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or other related disciplines 8 years or related and progressive experience Extensive history of progressively accountable professional experience in leading and contributing to modeling and simulation software development, successfully demonstrated across numerous substantial customer-driven projects, to include: Designing modern software architectures Leveraging software configuration management and collaboration tools in team environments Communicating effectively through technical writing and presentations Delivering timely products for complex team projects Demonstrating strong leadership skills and rapport with customers and teammates Developing technical expertise, including mentoring and workforce development Proficiency in one or more of the organization’s core computer languages (e.g., C , Python, Fortran, MATLAB, etc.) The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
