The mission of The Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. The Adelson School, founded on Jewish values and ethos, is the only PK-12 Jewish community school in Nevada.

Position Summary:
The Adelson School seeks a passionate Lower School Science teacher (grades PK – 2) starting in August of 2024. Reporting to the Lower School Principal, the Lower School Science Teacher will ignite curiosity and empower young scientists through engaging, differentiated instruction that delivers a high-quality science education and fosters a love of learning science.
Key Responsibilities:
● Design and deliver high-quality, engaging instruction in the form of discussion, direct teaching, demonstrations, experiments, observations, and independent practice using a variety of proven methods that meet the NGSS standards.
● Collaborate with classroom teachers to align science instruction with science-based literacy units and foster interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
● Utilize data-driven instruction techniques to assess student progress and adjust lesson plans accordingly.
● Go beyond ‘finish early, do extra’ and design learning experiences that ignite curiosity, deepen understanding, and propel each student, regardless of their current level, towards mastery and new challenges.
● Foster a positive, nurturing environment where students feel valued and motivated to learn.
● Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, and clearly communicate progress, goals, and expectations.
● Embrace continuous learning, reflect on teaching practice, and actively seek feedback to increase student learning.
● Other school-related duties, including but not limited to car line, lunch supervision, and updating bulletin boards.
● Source science supplies for projects and lessons.
Critical Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in science, Elementary Education with a science focus, or related field.
● Minimum 3 years of successful teaching experience in grades PK - 2.
● Proven ability to differentiate instruction.
● Strong classroom management and communication skills.
● Integrate technology meaningfully to enhance learning and creativity.
● Collaborative spirit and commitment to building positive relationships.
● Openness to feedback and continuous improvement.
Additional Preferences:
● Experience with Responsive Classroom.
● Experience with NGSS Standard-based learning.
● Understanding of Jewish culture, traditions, and values.
● Nevada teacher certification.
● Master's degree preferred.
Physical Requirements:
● Prolonged periods of sitting.
● Must be able to lift fifty pounds at times.
● At times may be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
