TGW Systems is Hiring a Resident Automation Technician Team Lead Near Statesville, NC

Principal Duty

The Resident Automation Technician Lead is responsible for supporting the customer on all automation-related topics and supervising the day-to-day operations of a TGW resident technician team stationed at one of TGW’s customer facilities. The Resident Automation Technician Team Lead acts as a key liaison between the customer and TGW on automation and personnel matters. In addition to customer service and leadership skills, this role requires thorough knowledge of electrical, mechanical, controls automation and software support.
This position is based at our customer facility in Statesville, NC.


Tasks & Responsibilities

1. Serve as the point person between the supported facility and assigned Lifetime Services team for automation and personnel-related topics.
2. Assist with onsite responsibilities such as managing incidents, identifying training needs, coordinating shift work, approving timecards, responding to time-off requests, attending customer meetings, and other tasks as directed.
3. Coordinate and oversee maintenance activities pertaining to automated equipment onsite, including conveyors, cranes, shuttles, scale checks, and carton-opening systems. Provide hands-on assistance with such maintenance activities, lead efforts to resolve issues requiring in-depth technical knowledge, and communicate maintenance activities to the customer as needed.
4. Resolve customer equipment issues as quickly and practically as possible. Perform root cause analyses and drive issues to resolution.
5. Assign work orders to the team and ensure completion of such tasks, and providing assistance as needed.
6. Monitor and maintain site spare parts inventory and/or work closely with customer to maintain spare parts inventory upon request.
7. Drive continuous improvement efforts to optimize automation efficiency and performance in delivery of contracted KPIs.
8. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with the customer.
9. Ensure compliance with all health and safety guidelines, requirements, procedures, and regulations.
10. Collaborate with the broader TGW Lifetime Services team to track, document, and communicate issues and lessons learned.
11. Respond to after-hours inquiries as needed.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements Profile

1. Associate degree or Technical Certificate in Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
2. Five plus (5 ) years of demonstrated experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment in industrial, warehousing/distribution, manufacturing, or related environments.
3. Previous experience in electromechanical troubleshooting and repair of material-handling conveyors, AS/RS, and shuttle systems.
4. Previous experience holding formal or informal leadership roles.
5. Demonstrated leadership ability and experience handling high-stress scenarios requiring advanced interpersonal skills and conflict resolution techniques.
6. Familiarity with HMI and/or SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition interface) experience.
7. Profibus and Profinet experience.
8. Ability to interpret engineering drawings for use in diagnostics.
9. Excellent communication skills and customer service skills.
10. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, etc).
11. Ability to travel up to 15%.
12. PLC programming and troubleshooting knowledge, preferred.

10. While looking forward, must be able to see objects or movements that are off to the side
11. Must be able to visually inspect machines
12. Must be able to see differences between colors, shades and brightness
13. Exposed to moving and/or motorized equipment, machinery, parts and electricity that require safety protocols
14. Must be able to speak clearly so others can understand
15. Must be able to understand the speech of others
16. Must be able to hear sounds and recognize the difference between them
17. Must be able to focus on one source of sound and ignore others
18. Must be able to determine from which direction a sound came
19. Must be able to use critical PPE correctly
20. Exposed to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather based on geographic region.
